Abstract

The impact of nutritional status on cognitive function, academic achievement and performance, and overall productivity is substantial. Adequate nutritional status safeguards society against the detrimental effects of malnutrition, thereby preserving the collective national welfare in addition to enhancing individual well-being. The Plan-Do-Check-Action (PDCA) method is implemented by this service. The screening process entails the collection of anthropometric data, including weight, height, and body mass index. The expeditious implementation of community-based initiatives that detect nutritional disorders in their early stages can effectively mitigate the detrimental effects of malnutrition on the health of children. It is critical to incorporate a comprehensive approach that tackles determinants including socio-economic factors and promotes healthy eating practices in order to effectively combat malnutrition and facilitate optimal growth and development.

Abstract

The skin, as the body's largest organ, can function as an important barrier against dangers from outside the body. Insufficient water and oil levels in the skin can cause dry skin conditions. This can be caused by various factors, including age, sun exposure, and accompanying chronic diseases. Dry skin tends to cause itching, thereby increasing the risk of scratching and injury. A good level of skin hydration will improve an individual's quality of life. This screening activity for the adult population at Kalam Kudus Middle School was attended by 127 participants with an average age of 39 years. The mean water and oil content in the left hand were 39.3% and 17.6%, respectively. Meanwhile, the average water and oil content in the right hand was 41.2% and 18.5%, respectively. Through this activity, participants are expected to increase awareness of the importance of maintaining body and skin moisture.

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease characterized by high blood glucose levels due to insulin resistance or inadequate insulin production. In the elderly, diabetes mellitus causes various serious complications such as heart disease, nerve damage, kidney failure and vision problems. Risk factors for diabetes mellitus include family history, obesity, lack of physical activity, a diet high in fat and sugar, and hypertension. This community service activity aims to increase awareness and early detection of type 2 diabetes mellitus through education and HbA1c screening in the elderly. Of the 93 lanjut usiats, 74 were women and 19 were men, with an average age of 74.05 years. The mean HbA1c value was 7.59, with 55.9% in the moderate category and 25.8% in the poor category. Results showed that suboptimal glycemic control was higher in women. This program highlights the need for regular monitoring and appropriate interventions to improve glycemic control and quality of life for older adults through comprehensive education, physical activity and stress management.
