Abstract

Principal leadership has a crucial and vital role in creating a conducive learning climate in schools, including improving teacher performance. This study aims to analyze the efforts of school principals in improving teacher performance at the basic education level. This research method is a qualitative type, with an analytical descriptive study method. Collecting research data using interviews, observation and documentation studies. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using data reduction techniques, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of this study found; (1) the principal's leadership skills in managing information and resolving conflicts between educators; (2) giving suggestions from school principals to teachers about the importance of educating and improving the competence of educators; (3) the efforts of the principal in meeting the needs of teachers to teach, the economic welfare and social welfare (career) of teachers; and (4) providing opportunities for teachers to attend training and continue their studies (education). Thus, it was concluded that the principal's efforts to improve teacher performance were carried out well in schools.

Abstract

Bendungan Bili-Bili yang merupakan bendungan yang terbesar di Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan yang di bangun mulai tahun 1992 terletak ± 30 km di sebelah timur kota Makassar dan berada pada bagian nalis DAS Jeneberang. Waduk ini membendung Sungai Jeneberang yang berada di Desa Bili-Bili Kecamatan Bontomarannu Kabupaten Gowa. Bendungan Bili-Bili mulai diresmikan penggunaannya pada tahun 1999. Waduk ini merupakan waduk serbaguna yang dibangun dengan tujuan utamanya adalah untuk pengendalian banjir kota Makassar, pemenuhan kebutuhan air irigasi seluas ± 23,000 Ha, suplai air baku sebesar 3,3 m3/dtk dan pembangkit listrik tenaga air sebesar 20,1 MW. Daerah tangkapan air waduk Bili-Bili memiliki luas 384,40 km² dengan perencanaan umur operasi 50 tahun (JRBDP, 2004), namun dalam perkembangan terakhir terjadi penurunan pemanfaatan fungsi layanan waduk akibat adanya perubahan kondisi daerah tangkapan waduk karena adanya erosi akibat perubahan pemanfaatan lahan dan juga terjadinya longsoran dinding kaldera gunung Bawakaraeng pada tahun 2004 yang merupakan hulu DAS Jeneberang sebagai sumber utama air waduk Bili-Bili.
