Abstract

Having the memorization of the quran is one of the identities that must be owned as the students at Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam Pengembangan Ilmu Alquran (STAI-PIQ) Sumatera Barat, Indonesia. Memorizing the Quran is not an easy thing, in achieving success in memorizing the Quran, of course, there are various supporting factors. This study aimed to analyze the supporting factors of students’ success in memorizing the Quran. This study used a qualitative method with the type of case study. The data sources were taken from twelve informants through direct interviews using a set of interview protocols. The informants involved were selected by using a purposive sampling technique from three batches of entries, 2019, 2020, and 2021. All interview data were then analyzed thematically using Miles and Huberman approach. The research findings found eight factors that supported the success of memorizing the Quran, the eight factors were i) sincere intentions due to Allah S. W. T, ii) strong self-determination, iii) planning good memorization targets, iv) memorizing verses with correct recitation, v) always repeating the memorization diligently, vi) always being motivated by the supervisor, vii) living in the Quran environment, viii) using the right method. This study succeeded in revealing various factors that supported the success of students in memorizing the Quran. In fact, these eight findings can be used as a guide for students in achieving hafiz in the Quran.

Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of knowing and describing the problems of implementing the independent curriculum that occurred at SMPN 5 Padang Panjang. This research departs from the background of the many phenomena surrounding the implementation of the independent curriculum and various policies regarding the independent curriculum. The research question raised is how the problems of implementing the independent curriculum at SMPN 5 Padang Panjang are problematic. The research was conducted with a qualitative type of field research. Data was collected by interviewing school principals, curriculum representatives, and teacher councils as well as making observations at SMPN 5 Padang Panjang. The results of these interviews were analyzed and then presented in a descriptive form. The results of this analysis can answer the questions formulated in the research questions. The results of this analysis are in the form of problems in the implementation of the independent curriculum originating from the government in the form of less than optimal guidance and assistance in the implementation of the independent curriculum. In addition, there are also problems originating from teachers in the form of a lack of teacher ability to utilize independent teaching platforms and utilize technology to learn and understand independent curriculum.

Abstract

Teaching skills are an aspect that must be owned by a teacher to achieve success in learning, therefore teachers must have a high ability in learning. In fact, this study aims to describe the teaching skills of Islamic religious education teachers in improving student learning outcomes at Madrasah Tsanawiyah. In addition, to describe the actions of Islamic Religious Education teachers in improving student learning outcomes at Madrasah Tsanawiyah. This study uses a qualitative method with an approach case study, Research data were taken from thirty-six informants, consisting of school principals, teachers, and students by means of individual and group interviews. To strengthen the interview data the author also made direct observations of teachers and students. All interview and observation data were analyzed using Analysis Interactive the Milles & Hubberman model. The results of this study found eight teacher activities in teaching. The teaching skills of Islamic Religious Education teachers at Madrasah Tsanawiyah include i) opening lesson skills, ii) closing lesson skills, iii) explaining skills, iv) questioning skills, v) reinforcement skills, vi) variation skills, vii) small group discussion guiding skills, and viii) class management skills. This research has succeeded in uncovering eight teacher skills in teaching so as to improve student learning outcomes.
