Abstract

Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) is an essential oil-producing plant. The essential oil contained in lemongrass has properties, one of which is antiseptic. This study aims to make a formulation and test the physical stability and activity test of the Handsanitazer gel preparation of serch essential oil (Cymbopogon citratus) with three variations in concentration, namely 2%,3% and 4% with gel base The tests carried out on the three formulations included the physical properties of the gel, namely, organoleptic testing, pH, Homogeneity, dispersion, and Bacterial Activity. Antibacteria activity testing was carried out using the agar diffusion method which was modified using pure citronella essential oil (positive control), base gel (negative control) and gel preparations 2%,3%,4% Test data The bacterial activity obtained was analyzed by One Way Anova with 95% confidence level. The test results showed that the resulting gel met the test parameters, including the organoleptic test (semi solid, clear the typical smell of lemongrass), pH 5 which was still within a safe pH range of the skin, homogeneity with no visile coarse granules in all gel formulations, and strength test. Spread ranged from 6.2 to 7.6 Preparations of Gel Handsanitazer Lemongrass essential oil had anti-bacterial activity at a concentration of 2% with an Inhibition Zone of 22 mm. The results of the study showed the ability of Lemongrass Essential Oil to inhibit the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the fruit flesh extract of Kecapi (Sandoricum koetjape) on reducing total cholesterol levels in mice (Mus muscullus). The research design used was an experimental laboratory which was carried out at the Pharmacology Laboratory of the Pancasakti University Makassar. This study used 15 male mice which were divided into 5 treatment groups, each group consisted of 3 mice. Test animals were fasted for 3-4 hours before treatment, all groups were given Propylthiouracil 0.4761% for 10 days. Then on the 10th day, cholesterol levels were checked after being induced. After that, treatment was given, namely, group I was given Na CMC as a negative control, group II was given simvastatin suspension as a comparison, group III was given harp fruit pulp extract with a concentration of 0.014% w/v, group IV was given harp fruit pulp extract with a concentration of 0.0285 %,, group V was given harp fruit pulp extract with a concentration of 0.057%. The process of reducing total cholesterol was observed on the 9th day. The results showed that the statistical test showed a significantly different effect (P<0.05) where the harp fruit pulp extract had a significant effect, which means that there was a cholesterol-lowering effect in mice. The highest concentration of harp fruit pulp extract in reducing total cholesterol levels in mice was at a concentration of 0.057% w/v compared to concentrations of 0.028% w/v and 0.014% w/v, because it provided the largest reduction in cholesterol levels, namely 53.74%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the “Activity of syrup ekstrak from Rambutan Peel (Nephelium lappaceum L.) on reducing total cholesterol levels in the blood of mice (Mus musculus).” This type of research using the pre and post test method. Induction of hypercholesterolemia was carried out by giving high-fat feed, namely duck egg yolk and butter and PTU inducers which were given every day at relatively the same time for 14 days by oral method. On the 15th day the mice were fasted but still given to drink for the next 3 hours. Cholesterol levels were measured after induction for 14 days (induction cholesterol levels). The mice test animals used were 6 mice (Mus musculus) which were divided into 2 treatment groups. On day 15, groups 1 was treated with gemfibrozil 300 mg as a positive control and group 2 was treated with syrup of rambutan peel extract. After 30 minutes, the mice’s cholesterol levels were meansured. On day 16 they were given the same treatment on day 15 and cholesterol levels were menasured 30 minutes after administration. From the results of the study it was concluded that administration of syrup of rambutan peel extract (Naphaleum lappaeum L.) with a level of 250 mg/ml can reduce total cholesterol levels in the blood of mice with an average decrease of 7% and 11%.

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) is a long-term disease that occurs when the body cannot use insulin effectively. Based on previous research data in 2022 for the January-December period, data was obtained on type 2 DM patients who received treatment at Labuang Baji Hospital, Makassar, South Sulawesi Province, as many as 145 people, so for this reason this research was carried out with the aim of knowing the profile of drug prescribing in diabetes patients. type 2 at Labuang Baji Hospital, Makassar, South Sulawesi Province for the period June-December 2023. This research uses descriptive research methods and retrospective data collection. The variables studied in the Type 2 DM drug prescribing profile are type of drug, dose, instructions for use and amount of drug. The total number of recipe data obtained was 125 recipes. The research results show that the most frequently prescribed type 2 DM drug is Glimepiride. The most frequently prescribed doses of type 2 DM drugs are Glimepiride 2mg, Metformin 500mg, Glibenclamide 5mg, Pioglitazone 30mg and Acarbose 50mg and 100mg. The rules for using type 2 DM that are most often prescribed are Glimepiride once a day, Metformin 3 times a day, Glibenclamide once a day, Pioglitazone once a day and Acarbose 3 times a day. The number of type 2 DM drugs most frequently prescribed are Glimepiride 30 tablets, Metformin 60 tablets, Glibenclamide 30 tablets, Pioglitazone 30 tablets and Acarbose 30 tablets.
