Abstract

This study aims to develop Balinese shadow puppets of Punakawan Tualen and Merdah as Civics learning media to increase student learning motivation and convey messages to students to be efficient and the learning process to be effective. The research method used in this study is the RND (Research and Development) research and development method, the development model used is the 4-D model. According to Sivasailam Thiagarajan et al (1974:5). The subjects of this study were 28 class IX.11 students of SMP Negeri 2 Singaraja. Data collection techniques in this study used (1) observation techniques, (2) interviews, (3) questionnaires, (4) documentation and (5) literature study. The results of this study indicate that in the draft design process the stages are carried out in the form of: (1) making concept ideas, (2) preparing scripts, (3) shooting, (4) editing and (5) sound editing. In the PPKn learning video using Balinese leather puppets, Punakawan Tualen and Merdah get a validatas test by 3 experts, namely PPKn Subject Matter Experts giving a score of 76%, Puppet Artist Experts giving a score of 80% and Subject Teacher Experts giving a score of 94%. In the assessment, the average percentage is 83%. While the practicality test for class IX.11 SMP Negeri 2 Singaraja obtained a percentage score of 90%. This suggests that Civics learning videos using Balinese shadow puppets, punakawan Tualen and Merdah, are appropriate for use as learning media for Civics subjects.
