Abstract

ABSTRACT Out-of-school youth need empowerment. The impact of young people not continuing their education is unemployment, lack of skills and detrimental treatment such as drug use. Out-of-school youth are also less likely to obtain stable employment and generate adequate income. The aim of this research is to determine the implementation of empowering out-of-school youth through ikat weaving skills training at Sanggar Doka Tawa Tana studio. The type of research used in this research is descriptive qualitative research. The results of the research show that: Empowering School Dropout Youth through ikat weaving skills training at Sanggar Doka Tawa Tana consists of 3 (three) stages, namely: 1) the awareness and behavior formation stage, 2) the ability transformation stage in the form of knowledge and skills and 3) the increasing intellectual abilities and skills to achieve independence. The result is that young people who drop out of school get motivation that can change their lives, increase their skills in the field of ikat weaving, take initiative in the process of gaining knowledge and skills, open business opportunities, and increase the independence of participants and also success in increasing their knowledge and skills in making sarongs. and improve family welfare.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the meaning of the ikat weaving motif for the youth of the Uma Badut tribe. This research method uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological study approach. The research location is the Uma Badut tribe in Maktihan village, West Malaka District, Malaka Regency. The subjects in this study were the Uma Badut tribe community consisting of youth, weaving mothers and traditional elders. Data analysis techniques include data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. Research Results One of the woven motifs that is still relevant to the life of the Uma Badut tribe is the uma nen motif. The uma nen motif has a deep meaning and value contained in it. In the lives of the youth of the Uma Badut tribe, from generation to generation they have preserved these two values. However, today's youth do not understand these two values, due to a lack of teaching from parents or traditional elders. Therefore, based on these results it can be concluded that the Uma Badut tribe has basic motifs that have deep meaning and value contained in woven fabrics. However, many young people from the Uma Badut tribe do not live up to the values conveyed by their ancestors. Keywords: Meaning, Motif, Ikat Weaving, Youth

Abstract

Community empowerment through the cultivation of red ginger plants in Watunay Village, West Golewa District, Ngada Regency is an empowerment program that aims to help the community improve the economy and rise from economic downturn. The purpose of the study was to find out how community empowerment through the cultivation of red ginger plants in Watunay Village, West Golewa District, Ngada Regency. This type of research uses qualitative research with descriptive methods. The data collection method uses interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques are carried out by collecting data, reducing data, presenting data and drawing conclusions. Validity of research data using triangulation of sources and techniques. The results showed that the community empowerment program through the cultivation of red ginger plants in Watunay Village is an effort to create an atmosphere or climate that allows the community to develop (Enabling) by providing encouragement to the community in the form of providing funds, mentoring efforts and holding activities, and providing motivation. However, there has been no effort to strengthen the potential that is already owned (Empowering) in the form of providing facilities and markets. The community empowerment program through the cultivation of red ginger plants in Watunay Village also makes efforts to protect economically weak communities (Protecting) by prioritizing weak communities. In the community empowerment program through red ginger cultivation in Watunay Village, it still cannot help the community improve the economy because it has not had a significant impact on the community's economy.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine community empowerment efforts through the smok cloth handicraft business at PKBM Empowering Pemuda Harapan Bangsa, Kupang City. The smok cloth handicraft group has been established since 2015 until now. The empowerment efforts studied in this research are through awareness, capacity building and empowerment. The type of research used is qualitative with a case study approach. The research location is at PKBM Empowering Pemuda Harapan Bangsa, Kupang City. The subjects of this research were companions, leaders and group members. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews and documentation techniques. Data analysis techniques include data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The triangulation used to explain the validity of the data is source triangulation and technique triangulation. The results of the research show that the empowerment efforts carried out through smok cloth handicrafts at PKBM Empowering Pemuda Harapan Bangsa, Kupang City have gone quite well. In the awareness stage, learning residents are given motivation through outreach activities. At the capacity building stage, students are also given training and demonstrations. In the final stage, the empowerment stage, even though the students are still not completely independent, the profits obtained from smok cloth handicrafts so far can be used to meet the daily needs of the students.

Abstract

Abstract This research is motivated by the problem that men's empowerment can also be realized through active participation in the wider community facilitated by empowerment actors. Men in Palamarung M1 Subdistrict (20 years old) are involved in informal sector economic activities as weaving craftsmen. This research aims to find out the process of empowering male ikat weaving craftsmen and what are the supporting and inhibiting factors as a male ikat weaving craftsman This research method uses qualitative methods and the research location is in Palamarung Village, East Sumba Regency. The subjects in this research were ikat weaving craftsmen, parents, village heads, school principals and students. Data collection uses interview techniques, observation and documentation studies. Data analysis techniques include data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of the research show that M1 is a male Ikat Weaving Craftsman in Palamarung Village, East Sumba Regency. Awareness actions carried out by M1 include approaching schools about the importance of preserving ikat culture and conducting outreach to students to take part in extracurricular activities on ikat weaving as an extracurricular of interest. As well as grouping students based on gender in preparing weaving materials and tools. In the Transformation stage, M1 prepares materials and collaborates with the school to create extracurricular schedules and study agreements. Apart from that, the sales and promotion process is carried out through social media. The stage of student independence is combined in a class and group between male and female students.
