Abstract

Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates the relationship between structured health education and exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) status, aiming to understand how tailored educational interventions can enhance the initiation and sustainability of EBF for the recommended six months. Research Design and Methodology: The study employs a qualitative systematic literature review (SLR) approach, analyzing peer-reviewed journal articles, conference papers, and relevant academic publications. The literature spans from 2010 to 2024, focusing on structured health education, digital health interventions, and their impact on EBF practices. Findings and Discussion: The findings indicate that structured health education, particularly when culturally sensitive and supported by digital tools such as mobile health (mHealth) applications, significantly improves EBF outcomes. The study highlights the importance of continuous support through follow-up sessions and peer groups. Additionally, it underscores the role of workplace policies and public health infrastructure in sustaining breastfeeding practices. The results align with the Health Belief Model and the Theory of Planned Behavior, demonstrating that well-structured education can effectively promote health behaviors. Implications: This research contributes to both scientific knowledge and practical application by emphasizing the integration of digital tools and supportive policies in health education. The study's originality lies in its comprehensive approach, offering valuable insights for healthcare providers and policymakers to enhance maternal and child health outcomes globally.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to systematically review the effects of stress during pregnancy on maternal and fetal health, highlighting physiological, psychological, and socio-economic dimensions. Research Design and Methodology: A systematic review design was adopted, analyzing peer-reviewed articles published between 2000 and 2023. The review included studies focusing on human subjects and examining various stress-related factors and their impacts on pregnancy outcomes. Data was collected through exhaustive searches of electronic databases, followed by thematic analysis and meta-analysis where appropriate. Findings and Discussion: The review reveals significant impacts of prenatal stress on maternal and fetal health. Elevated maternal cortisol levels are linked to adverse birth outcomes, such as preterm birth and low birth weight. Prenatal stress also causes structural changes in fetal brain development, leading to long-term cognitive and behavioral issues. Systemic inflammation resulting from chronic stress exacerbates these effects. Socio-economic and cultural disparities further intensify the negative impacts of prenatal stress. Tailored interventions, including culturally competent care and improved access to healthcare, are essential for mitigating these effects. Implications: The study underscores the need for comprehensive stress management programs for pregnant women, policies enhancing healthcare accessibility, and interventions addressing socio-economic stressors. Future research should focus on longitudinal studies and exploring genetic mechanisms to develop more effective interventions. These efforts are crucial for improving maternal and fetal health outcomes globally.
Effectiveness of FE Tablet Consumption on Haemoglobin Level Increase Haemoglobin Levels in Pregnant Women Hasriantirisna, Hasriantirisna

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Fe tablet supplementation on increasing hemoglobin levels in pregnant women at Puskesmas Dahlia Makassar. Research Design and Methodology: The research method used was a Cross-Sectional Study, with data observation at one point. The study sample consisted of 35 pregnant women divided based on compliance with taking Fe tablets. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test to determine the significance of the results. Findings and Discussion: The results showed that 91.7% of pregnant women who regularly consumed Fe tablets experienced increased hemoglobin levels, while only 27.3% of irregular pregnant women experienced an increase. This indicates the significant effectiveness of Fe tablet consumption in increasing hemoglobin levels. This finding also indicates that non-compliance and other health factors, such as infection, may affect the outcome of supplementation. Implications: This study has significant value in providing empirical evidence on the importance of adherence to iron supplement consumption and the need for a holistic approach that includes nutrition education and infection control. The originality of this study lies in its focus on pregnant women at Puskesmas Dahlia Makassar, providing local data that is valid for health policy. Limitations of this study include the cross-sectional design, which cannot determine cause-and-effect relationships, and the limited sample size. Further research with a longitudinal design and larger sample is recommended to confirm these findings and explore other factors that influence the effectiveness of iron supplementation.
