Abstract

The present article discusses the grave ecological disaster we are facing today, such as drought, flood, typhoon, deforestization, desertification, polution of water-air-land, and the like, which is called an ‘ecozoic period’. It means a terminal of the history of the earth, which has put humanity at the cross-road, either choosing to act or letting all perish. The writer, on the one hand, acknowledges that scientific datas have helped people to comprehend better the ecological crisis. On the other hand, he also underlines that faiths and religious convictions have provided people inspirations and motivations to handle the problems. The crucial question then is: “What is the contribution of the Christian faith, particularly the universal salvation in Jesus Christ, to respond this ecological crisis and the crisis of life resources?” The writer is convinced that Christian faith –theology of creation, incarnation, cross, and resurrection– has enhanced the believers to involve and participate in safeguarding the earth. This faith has surely ethical implications, such as the spiritual, socio-cultural, and political dimensions or contemplation, ecological asceticism, and prophetical voices. These three ethical implications could reinforce the solid social movement toward a serious ecological conversion.

Abstract

Tulisan ini melukiskan biografi seorang pemimpin tarekat religius Propinsi SVD Jawa, P. Pancratius Mariatma SVD dari perspektif organisasi. Namun bukan sekedar menulis riwayat hidup seorang tokoh, artikel ini mengedepankan kontribusi dan legacy seorang pemimpin organisasi tarekat religius selama 3 dekade yang ditinjau secara kritis dari berbagai perspektif teori organisasi. Diawali dengan pemaparan tentang profil dan gaya kepemimpinan P. Mariatma dan profil organisasi provinsi SVD Jawa, penulis menyoroti system dan struktur organisasional Provinsi SVD Jawa. Dalam konteks gaya atau model kepemimpinan dan struktur organisasi seperti itu, dilihat secara khusus bagaimana cara dan gaya seorang pemimpin menghadapi dan mengatasi konflik internal dalam organisasi tersebut. Selanjutnya penulis mengemukakan secara garis besar kerangka teoritis mengenai model dan praksis kepemimpinan P. Mariatma dalam organisasi tarekat religius Propinsi SVD Jawa. Tulisan ini diakhiri beberapa catatan tentang legacy kepemimpinan P. Mariatma yang kiranya bukan sekedar untuk dikenang tetapi terutama untuk dipelajari oleh para penerusnya.

Abstract

Global peace is an actual issue that is almost relevant to every corner of the world. While conflicts for any reason seem to be unavoidable, many people understand that there are many innocent victims. Many of these victims in fact have nothing to do with the core of the conflict, however, they suffer a lot. Therefore, some significant and crucial steps should be taken in order to promote peace. Using a case of woman movent in Wajir, Kenya, the author proposes that the first step is to realise that there are moral values that could serve as inner power to promote peace. Further steps should be strategically planned according to certain context, such as "what conflict, who are involved, when and where it occured, and how it would be excuted.
