Abstract

The problems that occurred in this research were the low learning outcomes of Mathematics content, caused by the use of limited learning media, learning was less interesting and less enjoyable because the learning models and methods were less varied, students were still hesitant in expressing their opinions on the material they were studying. This research aims to improve mathematics learning outcomes in fourth grade elementary school students through the PBL (Problem Based Learning) learning model based on TGT (Team Games Tournament). This classroom action research was carried out in 2 cycles with each cycle having four stages, namely: planning, implementation , observation and reflection. The subjects of this research were 28 class IV students at SDN 02 Madiun Lor. The results of this research show that Mathematics for class IV students through the PBL (Problem Based Learning) learning model based on TGT (Team Games Tournament) can improve student learning outcomes which are characterized by increased completeness, namely in cycle 1 with an average score of 78.88, while in cycle with an average score of 86.60 and was declared successful.

Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACT Mathematics is the science of organized structures, mathematics discusses facts and relationships, and discusses space and form. In mathematics learning, problem solving is the most important part of mathematics learning objectives. Mathematics lessons in elementary school have a purpose such as mentioning that there are 5 objectives contained in mathematics learning, one of the five purposes is so that students can solve mathematical problems including the ability to understand problems, compile mathematical models, solve models and interpret the solutions obtained. Problem Base Learning is learning where using problems in real or real events in students' lives so that students can solve a problem, think creatively and critically and students can get an essential understanding. This study aims to find out how capable students are in solving mathematical problems in the number 1 – 1000 material by using the PBL (Problem Base Learning) learning model in grade III students of SDN 02 Madiun Lor consisting of 15 students. The type of research used in this study is the Classroom Action Research (PTK) method. The use of the PTK method is because the researcher aims to overcome problems regarding students' problem-solving abilities in mathematics subjects in the number 1 – 1000 material by observing and evaluating the improvement of students' abilities in this phase to be more effective and systematic. Based on the pre-cycle percentage, data was obtained that only 3 students could achieve good scores on the criteria guidelines, while 12 students or 80% of them had not achieved the expected scores. Then in the first cycle, there has been an increase of around 8 students or 53% who have achieved grades with good predicates in the assessment guidelines, while the rest have not reached the expected target. Entering the second cycle, there was a fairly good increase, namely 12 students or 80% of them had reached the target expected in the criteria guidelines, and the remaining 3 students who had not been able to achieve it. Based on the results that have been obtained, the application of the Problem Base Learning learning model is very influential in improving problem-solving skills for grade III elementary school students.

Abstract

This research was motivated by several students' problems in learning. This is based on the results of initial observations which show that students are less enthusiastic about taking science lessons and the learning carried out by teachers still uses the lecture method. To answer this, action research was carried out to improve the quality of learning carried out, namely the use of the role playing method to increase interest and achievement in science subjects for class IV students at SDN 02 Madiun Lor. The aim to be achieved in this research is that learning can be achieved well and optimally. This applies to science learning, such as being more focused on knowing your own role in the family and society, knowing the roles of other people. Therefore, role-playing activities for children will grow children's potential and interest. One of the determinants of the success of a learning process is the use of the role playing method. Because this method helps students find personal and social meaning. And with this method students learn to use the concept of roles. This research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) adapted from the Kemmis and Mc model. Taggrat. Therefore, the research was carried out in several stages. Each stage consists of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The data collection technique uses test sheets, observation sheets and documentation. This research was carried out in two cycles. The research results obtained were, in cycle I the average value was 65,875 and completeness was 70.83%. In cycle II the average score increased to 76 and completeness was 95.83%. The data shows that students' ability to learn using the role playing method increases after learning is carried out.
