Abstract

This study examines the impact of Islamic education on the development of religious character among high school students. With the increasing focus on character education, this research aims to determine how structured Islamic instruction influences students' moral and ethical behaviors. The study adopts a mixed-method approach, combining qualitative interviews with quantitative surveys to assess changes in students' attitudes and practices over time. Results indicate that Islamic education significantly enhances students' understanding of religious principles, enabling them to incorporate these principles into their daily lives. The research also explores the role of teachers and the school environment in fostering a conducive atmosphere for character development. The study emphasizes the need for a holistic approach to Islamic education, where academic knowledge is integrated with practical moral guidance. This ensures that students not only excel academically but also develop a strong moral compass. The findings suggest that students who receive consistent and comprehensive Islamic education are more likely to exhibit positive behaviors, such as honesty, respect, and empathy, which are fundamental to their personal and social development.
