Abstract

Cream  is one of the pharmaceutical preparations that used topically for  treatment of skin diseases. Candlenut bark has compounds that have inhibitory activities as antibacterial. In this research, a cream formulation was made from the ethanolic extract of candlenut bark. Candlenut bark extract cream has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus. Evaluation of cream such as organoleptic, adhesion, homogeneity and obtained good results.

Abstract

Indonesia telah menerapkan Pembatasan Sosial Berskala Mikro (PPKM) sebagai respon terhadap peningkatan kasus Covid-19. Menurut tim tracing kelurahan Piai tangah dari bulan Juli tahun 2021, terjadi peningkatan jumlah kasus reaktif dan positif Covid-19 di kelurahan Piai Tangah yang terletak di Kota Padang. Oleh karena itu, pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mencegah penyebaran infeksi covid-19 di wilayah ini. Metode pengabdian yang dilakukan di masyarakat antara lain pembagian multivitamin, pemberian informasi tentang Covid-19, seperti gejala infeksi dan cara pencegahannya, serta penyuluhan penggunaan multivitamin untuk meningkatkan derajat kesehatan masyarakat Piai Tangah di kecamatan Pauh yang terletak di kota Padang. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian ini sangat diminati masyarakat karena memenuhi kebutuhan kesehatan masyarakat Piai Tangah yang terpapar Covid-19 dengan mendapatkan multivitamin sebagai peningkatan sistim imun terhadap covid-19. Selain itu, terdapat respon positif dari masyarakat yang meyakini bahwa kegiatan pengabdian diperlukan untuk meningkatkan daya tahan tubuh, dimana mayoritas (75%) memahami gejala dan tindakan pencegahan Covid-19, serta cara mengkonsumsi multivitamin dengan tepat dan benar dari konseling yang dilakukan.

Abstract

The instant drink is processed products in powder form, easily soluble in water, practical in serving, and long shelf life due to their low water content and large surface area. In the current situation, a vitamin or drink that can improve the health of the body is needed. One of the compounds that can neutralize free radicals in the body as a trigger for a disease is β-carotene which has good antioxidant properties. One of the plants that contain high β-carotene is Yellow Pumpkin. It has a high nutritional content and fine fibre; thus, it is easy to digest. The method of making the instant drink is an oven drying method. This study aims to analyze β-carotene in yellow pumpkin, which is useful as an antioxidant using the UV-VIS spectrophotometry method. The absorbance of the β-carotene standard at a wavelength of 450 nm with distilled water as a blank. β-carotene standard is prepared by dissolving 0.2 g of potassium chromate in water to a volume of 100 ml.

Abstract

One of the skin diseases that are often encountered by teenagers is acne. Acne is caused by several factors, one of which is a bacterial infection, namely the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes. One of the anti-acne preparations is anti-acne facial cleanser. Soap is formed from the reaction of saponification of triglycerides using alkali. One of the triglycerides that can be used in soap making is Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO). One of the anti-acne soap is transparent soap. To improve the quality of transparent soap preparations, in this study purified gambier extract was added. The polyphenolic compounds contained in this gambier extract are catechins which are antimicrobial and antioxidant compounds. Addition with variations in the concentration of purified gambier extract F0:0, F1: 0.25%, F2: 0.50% and F3: 0.75%. Soap was evaluated for its physical properties, namely pH, organoleptic, homogeneity, water content, high foam test, stability of preparation and antibacterial activity test against Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. Based on the research results, it is known that the purified gambir extract combined with VCO can be used as a transparent soap preparation that meets the requirements and has an inhibitory power against the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes ATCC 11827.

Abstract

Soap is a cleancer that every human needs, clean, free of acne and smooth skin is the desire of human every human, especially women. Soap is used as a dirt-cleaning agent, especially for dirt that is a fat or oil by emulsifying them. Stepping from the above statement, in accordance with the concept of bact to nature, then try to develop a formulation of transparent soap, a combination of VCO with catechin. Soap is product of a mixture of salt, sodium with stearic, palmitic and oleic acids containing a few components of myristic acid dan laurate. It is expected later the consumer can accept this formula. Transparent soaps containing catechins are formulated with three consentrates, 0 %, 0.25 %, and 0.5 % each of the formulas evaluated in the from of description, pH, foam power trial, the comparison showed no significant difference of formula 1,2 and 3.

Abstract

This Community Service activity aims to provide information about ginger plants that have the best quality that can be processed into instant ginger powder, a method that can increase the productivity of instant ginger powder. This community service activity in alam mintanak farmer group, West Bungus sub-district, Padang city was carried out in 3 stages for 1 month. From the beginning of March to the 2nd week of May 2022, the preparation stage which consisted of meetings with related parties, preparation of proposals, and surveys were carried out. The next stage is Implementation which is the main agenda, including counseling and how to choose quality ginger plants and how to process ginger into instant ginger powder. The last stage is reporting as outlined in the form of this Community Service Journal. From this service activity, it is hoped that the people of Bungus Barat sub-district, Padang city will receive education on processing ginger into instant ginger powder and how to increase productivity.

Abstract

Skin is the outermost part of the body which is susceptible to solar radiation. Excessive radiation from ultraviolet (UV) rays can harm the skin, such as premature aging effect, erythema, and even skin cancer. Antioxidant compounds are needed to protect the skin from excessive exposure of UV rays. The antioxidant can be useful as a defense system against free radicals, ultraviolet radiation, and air pollution. One source of antioxidant from nature is Catechins. Catechins are obtained from the isolation of gambir (Uncaria gambir Roxb). Besides being useful as an antioxidant, Catechins also has antibacterial, antiseptic and wound healing effect. The antioxidant activity of Catechins can absorb UV rays, provides protection against oxidative stress, inflammation, and skin cancer. Therefore, the research is necessary to utilize the catechins in sunscreen lotion formulation. Catechins are isolated from gambir by maceration with hexane and ethyl acetate (polar, nonpolar and residual fractions). The fraction which yields the most catechins is used as the active substance in the formulation. The formulation is divided into 4 lotion formulas, namely Formula 1 with 0.5% catechins concentration, Formula 2 with 7.5% catechins concentration, Formula 3 with 1% catechins concentration, and Formula 4 without catechins substance. Physical stability test and effectiveness of sunscreen formulation are carried out on 4 lotion formulas. Physical stability tests included organoleptic observation, homogeneity, pH, and assessment of the effectiveness of sunscreen formulation by using UV-Vis Spectrophotometer.

Abstract

Patient satisfaction with the quality of pharmaceutical services is an essential indicator in the variety of health services in hospitals. Service quality is said to be enjoyable and satisfying if the services received are by or exceeding expectations. Otherwise, service quality is supposed to be inadequate or unsatisfactory if the service received is lower than expected. This study aims to determine the percentage level of patient satisfaction with pharmacy services at hospital outpatient pharmacies in Padang and to find out the pharmaceutical service system carried out by pharmacists on duty at hospital outpatient pharmacies that were located in Padang. This study used descriptive data collection. Satisfaction was assessed by giving questionnaires to respondents, and then the surveys were analyzed descriptively. Assessment of patient satisfaction was conducted by taking data through a poll of 100 respondents. Satisfaction analysis was carried out using a Likert scale, and then the data was displayed in the cartesian form.
