Abstract

Desa Oebelo merupakan desa yang terletak di Kecamatan Kupang Tengah Kabupaten Kupang Propinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur. Berdasarkan penelitian Sonbay (2010), tanah di Oebelo merupakan tanah lempung ekspansif, dengan kandungan mineral montmorillonite sebanyak 75% dan kaolinite sebanyak 25%. Tanah lempung yang mengandung Montmorilonite sangat mudah mengembang ketika terjadinya perubahan kadar air. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui nilai potensi pengembangan dan tekanan pengembangan tanah lempung ekspansif di Desa Oebelo pada variasi kadar air asli, kadar air 30% dan kadar air 40% serta Mengetahui hubungan antara tingkat kerusakan konstruksi terhadap potensi pengembangan tanah lempung ekspansif. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pengamatan secara langsung di lapangan sebagai langkah awal guna mengindentifikasi kerusakan rumah dan wawancara terhadap pemilik rumah untuk mengetahui riwayat pembangunan dan kerusakan konstruksi serta pengujian sampel tanah di laboratorium untuk mengetahui potensi pengembangan tanah. Pengujian yang dilakukan yaitu pengujian potensi pengembangan dan penurunan satu dimensi tanah kohesif menggunakan SNI 6424-2008 (Metode A). Berdasarkan identifikasi kerusakan, wawancara dan pengujian pengembangan di laboratorium menunjukkan bahwa tingginya potensi pengembangan tanah menyebabkan tingkat kerusakan yang tinggi. Oebelo Village is a village that is located at Central Kupang District of East Nusa Tenggara Province. Based on the research by Sonbay (2010), Oebelo soil is expansive clay with percentage of mineral content are 75% of montmorillonite and 25% of kaolinite. Clay with montmorillonite is easy to swell when the water content changing. The purpose of this research is to know the value of swelling potential and swelling pressure in Oebelo Village at the condition of real water content variation, 30% of water content and 40% of water content and also to know the correlation between the value of construction damage against the swelling potensial of expansive clay. The method used in this research is the direct observations in the field as a first step to identify the damage to house and interviews with house owners to know the history of the development and construction damage and testing of soil samples in the laboratory to determine the swelling potential soil. Tests were done is test the swelling potential and the consolidation one-dimensional of cohesive soil according to SNI 6424-2008 (A method). Based on the interview and swelling test at the laboratory showing that the high potential of soil swelling causing high value of destruction.
