Abstract

The purposes of this research were to find the contribution of the teacher?s competence and student?s emotional quotient toward the achievement on biologi of the student of SMU Negeri 2 Sukoharjo in the academic year of 2004/2005. The study carried out by descriptive quantitative method. The population of the study was all student of the second grade in SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo, in the academic year of 2004/2005. The sampling teachnique used in the study was random sampling. The technique used for collecting data were questionnaire and documentation technique. The data were then analized by regression analysis. Considering upon the result, the research concluded that there were significant contribution of the : (1) Teacher?s competence to biological learning achievement (rx1y = 0,450 at the level of significant 5 %); (2) Student?s emotional quotient to biological learning achievement (rx2y = 0,410 at the level of significant 5 %); (3) Teacher?s competence and student?s emotional quotient (R = 0,5373 at the level of significant 5 %). Teacher?s competence gives a dominant contribution on biological learning achievement at 56,49%. Teacher?s competence and student?s emotional intelligence give effective contributions on biological learning achievement at 28,8%.
