<![CDATA[Pengambilan spesimen di lapangan, terutama di daerah terpencil memiliki risiko karena memerlukan rantai dingin agar spesimen tetap dalam kondisi segar. Namun fasilitas laboratorium di daerah terpencil masih banyak yang kurang lengkap seperti tidak terdapat freezer untuk menyimpanan spesimen, dan transportasi ke daerah terpencil memerlukan waktu lama. Untuk mengatasi hal itu, diperlukan suatu teknik penyimpanan yang tidak membutuhkan freezer dan sesuai dengan aspek biosafety karena spesimen mengandung partikel infeksius. FTA cards merupakan teknologi terbaru untuk penyimpanan dan penanganan spesimen yang sesuai drengan aspek biosafety namun hingga saat ini pemakaian FTA cards masih belum banyak digunakan. Tujuan dari penulisan ini untuk mengkaji FTA cards dari berbagai aspek agar menjadi rujukan dalam memilih tehnik penyimpanan spesimen dibandingkan dengan metode konvensional sehingga para pembaca dapat mengetahui kegunaan FTA cards secara luas yang dapat dipakai dalam surveilans penyakit menular dan penyakit tidak menular. Tulisan ini merupakan kajian dari literatur-literatur yang ada di Google scholar dan Pubmed, dengan pencarian menggunakan kata kunci FTA cards, biosafety dan penyimpanan spesimen. Berdasarkan hasil dari penelusuran literatur, didapatkan hasil bahwa FTA cards dapat digunakan sebagai media penyimpanan spesimen. Spesimen yang dapat diteteskan ke atas permukaan FTA cards adalah darah, serum, cairan tubuh, feses dan organ tubuh hewan lainnya seperti nyamuk. FTA cards dapat direkomendasikan sebagai tehnik penyimpanan spesimen pada surveilans penyakit menular dan penyakit tidak menular namun memiliki harga yang lebih mahal dibandingkan dengan penyimpanan konvensional Collecting of infectious specimens in the field, particularly in the remote areas is risky, because they need cold chain for keep it fresh. Unfortunately, the facilities of laboratory in remote areas are not complete. There are no freezer to storage the specimens and the transportation to the remote areas limited. To solve the problem, there should be a storage technique which do not need the freezer and related to biosafety aspect, because the specimen are infectious. FTA cards is the latest technology for storage and handling specimens which related to biosafety aspect, but until now FTA cards is not widely used. The purpose of this writing is to review FTA cards from various aspects and compared it with the conventional storage, so the readers would know about the widely usage of FTA cards, especially in surveillance of infectious diseases. The methods of this writing is study from the literatures on google scholar and pubmed , by using keywords FTA cards, biosafety and storage specimen. Based on the results of tracing the literatures, obtained the results that FTA cards could be used as a storage specimens. Blood, serum, body fluids, faeces and body organs from animals as the mosquito can drizzling upon the surface of FTA cards. FTA cards can be recommended as the best storage technique of the specimen on surveillance of infectious disease and non infectious diseases but FTA cards are more expensive compared with the conventional storage]]>
