Regional development in West Kalimantan faces not only economic problems but also nature and social ones, especially in 1997 as monetary crisis hit the indonesian economy. During the last ten years, started from unfavorable condition with a negative economic growth of -4,72%, improved economic growth had been succesfully achieved. West Kalimantan’s economic structure before anf after the monetary crisis had been changed considerably. Until 2006, however, agricultural sector still dominated the regional economy structure (27,0%), followed by trading, hotel, and restaurant sector (22,9%), and industrial sector (18,2%). Unfortunately, this impressive achievement went in tandem with other structural problems.
