Membangun Karakter Peserta Didik Melalui Pembiasaan Santun Berbahasa

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) Find conditions of politeness in language and factors that influence these conditions. (2) Describe the application of the language politeness habituation method carried out by educators. (3) Explaining character values that arise as a result of politeness in language. The type of research is a case study with a descriptive qualitative approach. The research subjects were fourth-grade students of Daarul Huda Islamic Elementary School who were the age 10 years. Data collection techniques were obtained from the author's direct observation during the learning process in the field and interviews conducted with 3 informants to add more real information. The results of the study showed that the condition of politeness in the language of students at Daarul Huda Islamic Elementary School was still far from good because some impolite languages were found, such as: anjir, gue, lu, dan awas/minggir, and some other impolite words. The factors causing the impoliteness are dominated by the environment and pandemic conditions. The application of habituation has a positive impact by bringing up religious values, love of peace, tolerance, environmental and social care. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) Menemukan kondisi kesantunan berbahasa serta faktor yang mempengaruhi keadaan tersebut. (2) Mendeskripsikan penerapan metode pembiasaan kesantunan berbahasa yang dilakukan oleh pendidik. (3) Menjelaskan nilai-nilai karakter yang timbul akibat dari kesantunan berbahasa. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi kasus dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Subjek penelitian yaitu peserta didik kelas IV SDI Daarul Huda dengan usia 10 tahun. Teknik pengumpulan data diperoleh dari observasi langsung penulis selama proses pembelajaran di lapangan dan proses yang dilakukan kepada 3 informan untuk menambahkan informasi yang lebih real. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa kondisi kesantunan berbahasa peserta didik di SD Islam Daarul Huda masih jauh dari kata baik, karena ditemukan beberapa bahasa yang kurang sopan seperti: anjir, gue, lu, dan awas/minggir beberapa kata tidak sopan lainnya. Faktor penyebab ketidaksantunan tersebut didominasi dari kondisi lingkungan dan kondisi pandemi. Penerapan pembiasaan menimbulkan dampak positif dengan memunculkan nilai religious, cinta damai, toleransi, peduli lingkungan dan sosial.
