<![CDATA[The objective of this research is to improve students’ learning outcomes in speaking skill, in terms of expressing meaning in a very simple short monologue by means of Total physical response or total physical response to the students of 7.4 SMP Negeri 4 Muara Enim. This research was applied in two cycles of Classroom Action Research and was carried out in class 7.4 in the academic year 2018/2019 with its 28 students. Based on the quantitative descriptive analysis of test results, it was found that learning with total physical response method was successfully proven to improve students’ learning outcomes. This can be seen from their learning outcomes, from the average score 68,57 in the first cycle to 74,11 in the second cycle. The increase in this learning outcomes was also accompanied by an increase in the number of students who achieved the cut of score (KKM), from 15 students (53,47%) in the first cycle to 21 students (75%) in the next cycle. In conclusion, total physical response can be used as an alternative to improve the students’ learning outcomes in speaking meaning in a very simple short dialogue. ABSTRAKTujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik pada mata pelajaran bahasa Inggris terkait keterampilan berbicara materi mengungkapkan makna dalam monolog pendek sangat sederhana melalui metode Total Physical Response. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan dengan dua siklus. Pada masing-masing siklus dilaksanakan tiga tatap muka. Subjek penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas 7.4 SMP Negeri 4 Muara Enim Semester Ganjil tahun pelajaran 2018/2019 yang terdiri dari 28 orang. Berdasarkan analisis hasil tes deskriptif kuantitatif, pembelajaran dengan metode ini terbukti telah meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik kelas 7.4. Hal ini terlihat dari peningkatan hasil belajar mereka, dari nilai rata-rata 68,57 pada siklus I menjadi 74,11 pada siklus II. Kenaikan hasil belajar ini juga diiringi dengan peningkatan jumlah peserta didik yang telah mencapai KKM 75 yaitu 15 orang (53,57%) pada siklus I, menjadi 21 orang (75%) pada siklus II. Berdasarkan hasil yang telah dicapai, dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode Total Physical Response dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar, khususnya terkait materi monolog pendek sangat sederhana.]]>
