PREVALENSI HIPERTENSI PADA MASYARAKAT USIA 18-59 TAHUN DI WILAYAH KERJAPUSKESMAS TAMPAKSIRING I KABUPATEN GIANYAR BALI TAHUN 2013

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a cardiovascular disorder that is estimated to cause approximately 13% of total deaths worldwide. The disorder is associated with a variety of risk factors, i.e risk factors that can not be modified as well as the risk factors that can be modified. From the reports of Puskesmas Tampaksiring I in 2012, hypertension was in top ten disease and the prevalence is increasing every year. At the beginning of the survey, 30 respondents were selected randomly, and found the prevalence of hypertension is quite high at 40%, compared to the prevalence in the Gianyar regency of 28.2%. Based on this, the authors conducted a study to determine the prevalence and risk factors distribution of hypertension on community aged 18-59 years in the working area of UPT Puskesmas Tampaksiring I.Methods: The study was conducted in the working area of Puskesmas Tampaksiring I, District of Tampaksiring, Gianyar, in November 2013. This study is a cross-sectional descriptive study with a total sample of 92 respondents who are the people in the working area UPT Puskesmas Tampaksiring I was 18-59 years. Data were obtained through a questionnaire which consisted of a number of questions as well as height and weight measurements were conducted by researcher.Results and Suggestions: The results showed that the prevalence of hypertension in the population aged 18-59 years in Puskesmas Tampaksiring I of 41.3% (CI 31.79 to 51.51). Hypertension more experienced by males (47.8%), age group 54-59 years old (65.6%), had a family history of hypertension (55.6%), never smoked (55.6%), the group that never consume alcohol (42.9%), coffee consumption (47.4%), a group that has a high stress level (100%), the group with mild physical activity (44.2%), and the obese group (64.9 %). Given the high prevalence of hypertension in the community, it is necessary to take measures a more effective counseling and other health promotion to increase public knowledge about hypertension and risk factors.Keywords: hypertension, risk factors, age, gender, genetics, smoking, physical activity, obesity, stress, coffee, alcohol
