<![CDATA[ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to determine whether the grade 3 students of SMP Negeri 3 SIDIKALANG understand and recognize effective sentences, his special emphasis on the use of force or the effective sentence. The method used is descriptive method qualitative research procedure that uses descriptive data in the form of words written or spoken from the people and actors that can be observed. In this case, the authors use a questionnaire to help the research process. The results obtained that there are many students who do not understand the effective use of sentences. The conclusions obtained from this study is that it takes extra tutoring to discuss the matter of his sentence specifically effective in the use of emphasis and rigor in effective sentences. ABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah siswa kelas 3 SMP Negeri 3 SIDIKALANG memahami dan mengenal kalimat efektif, khusus nya dalam penggunaan ketegasan atau penekanan dalam kalimat efektif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif yaitu prosedur penelitian yang menggunakan data deskriptif berupa kata-kata tertulis atau lisan dari orang-orang dan pelaku yang dapat diamati. Dalam hal ini, penulis menggunakan angket dalam membantu proses penelitian. Hasil yang diperoleh bahwa masih banyak siswa yang belum memahami penggunaan kalimat efektif. Simpulan yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa diperlukan les tambahan untuk membahas tentang materi kalimat efektif khusus nya dalam penggunaan penekanan dan ketegasan dalam kalimat efektif.
