Abstract

Investors' stock investment decisions are influenced by the rational or irrational behavior of investors themselves. The behavior of rational investors in making investment decisions has taken into account relevant information that can be measured so that rational investors will get credible information. Psychological factors of investors strongly influence the irrational behavior of investors. The involvement of emotions, preferences, traits, and various kinds of things inherent in humans, often causes humans to act irrationally in making decisions. This study aims to determine the effect of financial literacy, locus of control, psychological factors, and demographic factors on stock investment decisions. The population of this study is stock investors on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, and the sample was taken from 100 respondents based on purposive sampling and data collection with an online questionnaire. The analytical method used is Smart PLS. It was found that financial literacy, locus of control, psychological factors, and demographic factors positively affect stock investment decisions. Male investors are more daring in their stock investment decisions than women. Investors are more daring in making stock investment decisions at a young age than those older. Investors with higher education are more willing to make stock investment decisions than those with lower education, and investors with higher incomes are more daring to make stock investment decisions.
