PENERAPAN METODE TOTAL PHYSICAL RESPONSE (TPR) SEBAGAI UPAYA MENINGKATKAN MOTIVASI DAN HASIL BELAJAR READING PESERTA DIDIK PADA KELAS X TKRO C SMKN 2 BANJARBARU

Abstract

This classroom action research aims to improve the quality of learning and the participation of students who are still low in the English learning process, especially reading skills in class X TKRO C SMKN 2 Banjarbaru. Solving the problem of low participation or motivation of students related to learning outcomes is by applying the Total Physical Response method. After this method was applied for two cycles, there was an increase in motivation and learning outcomes. The technique of collecting data was through observation by teachers and collaborators, and data analysis was carried out in a descriptive manner with the percentage technique. The level of participation or motivation of students is expressed in the high, medium and low categories. Based on the results of research that has been carried out the active involvement of students in the high learning process, because it has reached the specified criteria, namely 90% of students are actively involved. The frequency of students who ask questions, answer confidently, are able to submit opinions, meet the criteria 75% of students who are able to answer questions on time are 80%. Students who are able to answer questions are high, because they exceed the specified criteria, namely 75%. High group performance, because they are very compact and can finish on time. Thus the implementation of the Total Physical Response (TPR) method succeeded in increasing the participation/motivation and learning outcomes of students in class X TKRO C SMKN 2 Banjarbaru. ABSTRAKPenelitian tindakan kelas ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran dan partisipasi peserta didik yang masih rendah dalam proses pembelajaran bahasa Inggris khususnya keterampilan readingdi kelas X TKRO C SMKN 2 Banjarbaru. Pemecahan masalah rendahnya partisipasi atau motivasi peserta didik yang berkaitan dengan hasil belajar adalah dengan penerapan metode Total Physical Response. Setelah metode ini diterapkan sebanyak dua kali siklus terlihat adanya peningkatan motovasi dan hasil belajarnya. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi oleh guru dan kolaborator, dan analisis data dilakukan secara deskripsi dengan teknik persentase. Tingkat partisispasi atau motivasi peserta didik dinyatakan dengan katagori tinggi, sedang dan rendah. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan keterlibatan peserta didik secara aktif dalam proses pembelajaran tinggi, karena telah mencapai kriteria yang ditetapkan, yakni 90 % peserta didik terlibat aktif. Frekuensi peserta didik yang bertanya, menjawab dengan yakin, mampu mengajukan pendapat memenuhi kriteria75% Peserta didik yang mampu menjawab pertanyaan tepat waktu 80 %. Peserta didik yang mampu menjawab pertanyaan tinggi, karena melalmpaui kriteria yang ditetapkan yaknin 75 %. Kinerja kelompok tinggi , karena mereka sangat kompak dan dapat menyelesaikan tepat waktu. Dengan demikian implementasi metode Total Physical Response (TPR) berhasil meningkatkan partisivasi/motivasi dan hasil belajar pesrta didik di kelas X TKRO C SMKN 2 Banjarbaru
