MENINGKATKAN KETERAMPILAN MENULIS TEKS RECOUNT MELALUI PENERAPAN METODE BLENDED LEARNING PADA SISWA KELAS VIIIA SMPN I PIYUNGAN

Abstract

This study aims to improve recount text writing skills in class VIIIA students of SMP Negeri 1 Piyungan for the academic year 2020/2021 through the application of the Blended Learning method. This classroom action research uses the Kemmis and MC Taggart Design Model, which consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. This research was conducted in 2 cycles. Each cycle consists of 2 meetings, each meeting consists of 4 stages, namely planning, observation, action, and reflection. The data in this study consisted of qualitative and quantitative data collected through observation, questionnaires, photo activities and performance tests. Qualitative data were analyzed using data analysis consisting of: reduction, exposure, and drawing conclusions. Meanwhile, quantitative data were analyzed using statistical descriptions. Meanwhile, data reliability is achieved through methodological triangulation, by presenting original data, such as transcripts, questionnaires about action activities during the learning process and things that occur during the learning process through the application of blended learning methods, as well as opinions from collaborators. The results showed that the application of Blended Learning can improve students' recount text writing skills, students' motivation, students' understanding of the subject matter, students' self-confidence and the learning process. The improvement of writing skills in the pre-action, the first and second cycles, respectively, it is known that the average value of students' speaking skills in the pre-action is 73.75, in the first cycle is 75.22, while in the second cycle it reaches 85.62 The learning process is carried out by following the syntax steps in the blended learning method that directs students' attention to writing activities by providing motivation and examples for students to carry out writing activities based on their past experiences. The conclusion of this classroom action research is that the application of the Blended Learning method is proven to improve students' writing skills. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan meningkatkan keterampilan menulis teks recount pada siswa kelas VIIIA SMP Negeri 1 Piyungan tahun ajaran 2020/ 2021 melalui penerapan metode Blended Learning. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini menggunakan Design Model Kemmis dan MC Taggart, yang terdiri dari tahap perencanaan, tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam 2 siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari 2 pertemuan masing–masing pertemuan terdiri dari 4 tahap yaitu perencanaan, observasi, tindakan, dan refleksi. Data dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari data kualitatif dan kuantitatif yang dikumpulkan melalui observasi, angket, photo kegiatan dan tes unjuk kerja. Data kualitatitif dianalisa dengan menggunakan analisis data yang terdiri dari: reduksi, pemaparan, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Sedangkan data kuantitatif dianalisa menggunakan deskripsi statistik. Sedangkan realibilitas data dicapai melalui triangulasi metodologis, dengan memaparkan data asli, seperti transkrip, angket tentang kegiatan tindakan selama proses belajar dan hal- hal yang terjadi selama proses pembelajaran melalui penerapan metode blended learning, serta pendapat dari kolaborator. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan Blended Learning dapat meningkatkan ketrampilan menulis teks recount siswa, motivasi siswa, pemahaman siswa terhadap materi pelajaran, rasa percaya diri siswa dan proses pembelajaran. Peningkatan ketrampilan menulis pada pra tindakan, siklus pertama dan kedua berturut – turut diketahui rata-rata nilai ketrampilan berbicara siswa pada pra tindakan adalah 73,75, pada siklus pertama adalah 75,22, sedangkan pada siklus kedua mencapai 85,62 Proses pembelajaran dilaksanakan dengan mengikuti langkah-langkah sintak dalam metode blended learning yang mengarahkan perhatian siswa pada kegiatan menulis dengan memberikan motivasi dan contoh kepada siswa untuk melaksanakan kegiatan menulis berdasarkan pengalaman mereka dimasa lampau. Kesimpulan dari penelitian tindakan kelas ini adalah bahwa penerapan metode Blended Learning terbukti meningkatkan ketrampilan menulis siswa.
