This study aims to determine the application of custom punishmants and the consequences of these Custom Punishmants on the legal awareness of the community in Manimbahoi Village, Parigi District, Gowa Regency. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research with an empirical legal approach, namely sociological juridical or legal sociology. To achieve the research objectives, the researchers used data collection techniques through observation, documentation, and interviews. The data that has been obtained from the research results are processed using an interactive analysis model and tested by the triangulation method of data sources from various informants as well as the results of observations and documentation. The results of the study show that: (1) The application of custom punishmants against violations committed by the community in Manimbahoi Village, is applied or carried out in accordance with the customs and customary rules of Sampuloa Anrua ri Teko, The sanction is decided through the customary court (bicara) which is divided into two namely the court high level (bicara battala) to adjudicate a serious offense, and the lower court (bicara battala) to adjudicate a minor and moderate offense. Sanctions given to perpetrators are adjusted to the severity and severity of the offense committed. (2) The effect of custom punishmants on the community is to increase legal awareness through a deterrent effect received by perpetrators and a fear effect for the community to violate customary rules. Thus, it can be concluded that custom punishmants in Manimbahoi Village are implemented effectively to enforce Siri' as the value of South Sulawesi Selatan, including in increasing legal awareness of the people of Manimbahoi Village, Parigi District, Gowa Regency.
