HIV/AIDS is still a problem in the world, especially in Indonesia. World Health Organization explained that HIV is a public issue worldwide. The high incidence of HIV/AIDS is related to free sex. In overcoming the problem of HIV/AIDS, patients must take anti-retroviral drugs which only improve the quality of life. But in reality, there are still many patients who do not comply with the treatment. As for the factors that can affect the low adherence to taking anti-retroviral drugs in people with HIV/AIDS in the form of family and community support. This study aims to determine the effect of family and community support on adherence to taking anti-retroviral drugs in HIV/AIDS sufferers in Tulungagung Regency. This research is an observational analytic study with a cross sectional approach. The research sample consisted of 60 HIV/AIDS patients. The research instrument used a questionnaire and statistical tests using Spearman rank. The results showed that there was an effect of family support on the treatment behavior of HIV/AIDS patients in Tulungagung Regency with p value = 0.011. There is no effect of community support on the treatment behavior of HIV/AIDS patients in Tulungagung Regency with p value = 0.835. The importance of family support in the process of treating patients with HIV/AIDS and the need to identify other factors that can affect adherence to taking antiretroviral drugs in people with HIV/AIDS.
