Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa ditinjau dari self confidence dan etnik dalam menyelesaikan soal program linear. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskripsi kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini siswa kelas XI di SMA Singkawang etnik Tionghoa, Melayu, dan Madura. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa tes kemampuan penalaran matematis dan angket self confidence serta wawancara. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan acuan pada peneliti terdahulu bahwa, 1) siswa dengan self confidence tinggi dapat membuat manipulasi matematika, memeriksa kesahihan argumen, dan menarik kesimpulan sebagian besar dapat mencapai indikator kemampuan penalaran matematis tersebut. Siswa dengan self confidence sedang, hanya sebagian siswa, dapat menyelesaikannya secara tepat dan lengkap. Siswa dengan self confidence rendah, beberapa siswa, dapat mencapai indikator kemampuan penalaran matematis. 2) Sebagian siswa yang beretnik Tionghoa dapat melakukan manipulasi matematika dan memeriksa kesahihan. Sebagian siswa etnik Melayu dapat melakukan manipulasi matematika. Sebagian siswa etnik Madura dapat melakukan manipulasi matematika dan memeriksa kesahihan argumen. Kata kunci: Penalaran Matematis, Self confidence, Etnik Abstract: The study's goal is to describe students' mathematical reasoning abilities in solving linear program problems based on self-confidence and ethnicity. This type of research is qualitative. Students of Class XI in Singkawang high school are ethnic Tionghoa, Malay, and Madura. The instruments used in this study are mathematical reasoning and self-confidence tests and interviews. Based on the results of research and references from previous researchers, it appears that, 1) students with high self-confidence who can make mathematical manipulations, check the validity of arguments, and draw conclusions can mostly reach such indicators of mathematical reasoning ability. Students with moderate self-confidence are only partially able to complete it accurately and completely. Students with low self-confidence, which is a some students, can achieve indicators of mathematical reasoning ability. 2) Chinese ethnic students can partially perform mathematical manipulation and check authenticity. Some ethnic Malay students can do mathematical manipulation.
