Abstract

A good understanding of mathematical concepts will certainly help solve problems in everyday problems. For a student to understand an understanding of mathematical concepts is very helpful in solving problems on questions. One of the learning materials for fifth grade students is decimal number material, fifth grade students at SD 3 Piji have difficulty with decimal number material, especially in the problem solving section and comma placement. One of the strategies carried out by the fifth grade teacher at SD 3 Piji is to use the later seating model. It is hoped that good seating arrangements will create conducive, enjoyable learning conditions for students and with the U-style seating formation it is hoped that all students during the learning process can focus on the teacher. This study aims to analyze the ability to understand the concept of decimal numbers through the later strategy of fifth grade students at SD 3 Piji. The subjects in this study were 6 students, namely 2 smart students, 2 moderate students, and 2 less smart students. This subject taking technique uses a purposive technique because in taking the subject there are certain considerations such as the smartest students, moderate students and less intelligent students. The results of this study are that fifth grade students are more enthusiastic and take part in learning with the later seating strategy. In this case, the strategy of sitting later has a positive impact on students and teachers.
