This study aims to improve understanding of mathematical concepts through a jigsaw cooperative learning model. The research was conducted on sixth grade students of Elementary school Karangwuluh, Kapanewon Temon, Kulon Progo Regency. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research subjects were 11 students on sixth grade students at Elementary school of Karangwuluh, Temon, Kulon Progo. The object of this research is the understanding of mathematical concepts. Data collection techniques used were observation, cognitive tests of mathematical concepts, field notes, and documentation. The research instrument used was a rating scale observation sheet and mathematical concept cognitive test questions. The use of the jigsaw cooperative model in the process of learning mathematics can improve the understanding of mathematical concepts in class VI students of Elementary school Karangwuluh. The impact of this process is the increased understanding of mathematical concepts, students of class VI at Elementary school of Karangwuluh. This is evidenced by the average score of the first cycle of 56.2, in the second cycle it increased to 81.1. Based on these results it can be concluded that the jigsaw cooperative model can improve the understanding of mathematical concepts in class VI students of Elementary school Karangwuluh.
