<![CDATA[ABSTRACT Background: Acne is a chronic inflammatory process of the sebaceous glands. The disease can be minor with only comedones or inflammation with multiple pustules or cysts. Acne can be a psychological disorder for teenagers. Especially for those who have less knowledge and a negative attitude towards acne vulgaris. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge of acne and the severity of acne vulgaris. Methods: Sampling used a total sampling technique, students of the 2017 Medical Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) Jambi University. This research was conducted in August-September 2018. Results: The results showed that from 135 respondents, 70.4% of respondents were female, most of the respondents were 21-22 years old 56.3%, as many as 85.9 % had acne with sufficient knowledge level category of 73 respondents 54.1%, most of the respondents had mild acne vulgaris degree 61.5%. Conclusions: In this study, there was a relationship between the level of knowledge about acne and the severity of acne. Keywords: Compliance, Acne vulgaris ABSTRAK Latar Belakang: Jerawat (akne) merupakan suatu proses peradangan kronik kelenjar-kelenjar sebasea. Penyakit ini dapat bersifat minor dengan hanya komedo atau peradangan dengan pustule multiple atau kista. Akne dapat menjadi gangguan psikis bagi remaja. Terlebih-lebih bagi mereka yang memiliki pengetahuan yang kurang dan sikap yang negatif terhadap akne vulgaris. Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui hubungan tingkat pengetahuan jerawat dengan tingkat keparahan jerawat (akne vulgaris). Metode: Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik total sampling, yaitu semua mahasiswa Prodi Kedokteran Fakultas Kedokteran dan Ilmu Kesehatan (FKIK) Universitas Jambi angkatan 2017. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Agustus-September 2018. Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 135 responden, 70,4% responden dengan jenis kelamin perempuan, sebagian besar usia responden 21-22 tahun yaitu 56,3%, sebanyak 85,9% memiliki jerawat dengan kategori tingkat pengetahuan cukup sebesar 73 responden 54,1%, hampir sebagian besar responden memiliki derajat akne vulgaris ringan 61,5%. Kesimpulan: Pada penelitian ini didapat hubungan antara tingkat pengetahuan tentang jerawat dengan tingkat keparahan jerawat. Kata kunci: Kepatuhan, Akne Vulgaris]]>
