<![CDATA[Periodontitis is an inflammation that occurs in the tooth supporting tissues caused by specific micro-organisms. Plaque and calcu-lus bacteria are considered the main causes of periodontal disease. One of the main bacteria that cause periodontal disease found in subgingival plaque with chronic periodontitis is Porphyromonas gingivalis, Treponema denticola and Bacteroides forsythus. Conventional antimicrobials (antibiotics), especially tetracyclines are often used to support periodontal disease therapy, but an-tibiotics can cause side effects, namely resistance, allergic reactions, and toxic reactions. Therefore, alternative therapies are needed to treat periodontal disease without side effects. In particular, Moringa oleifera is known to contain more than 90 types of nutrients in the form of essential vitamins, minerals, amino acids, antiaging, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, hy-potensive, inhibitors of bacterial and fungal activity. The many pharmacological effects possessed by M.oleifera make this her-bal plant widely used to treat various diseases, especially periodontal disease.
