Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) business group is the most able to withstandketikakrisis economic hit this country. The increase in the number of units the SMElapangankerja open so that plays an important role in the economic and industrial growthof a country. Limitations of SMES in increasing competitiveness among others lackcreativity and innovation as well as pemodalan and markets. This research aims to knowthe factors that affect the performance of SMES in the town of Pasuruan, in terms ofentrepreneurial role and competencies of human resources. The role of self-employment isseen from some of the factors that is innovative, proactive and risk management, while thehuman resource competency as seen from the factors of knowledge, skills and abilities.Analytical techniques used is multiple regression analysis. Sampling in this study using apurposive sampling method, in which SMES are being sampled is the SME food field in thetown of Pasuruan. The results showed that of the entrepreneurial role of factors thatinfluence positively and significantly to the performance of SMES in the field of food anddrink in the town of Pasuruan is innovative and proactive, where innovative is theinfluential most dominant variable with regression coefficients of 0372. HR competencefactor variables from the perpetrator of the SMES that positive and significant effect amongother skills, abilities and knowledge, where skill is the dominant effect variables withcoefficients of the regression of 0318.Keywords : Role Of Smes, Entrepreneurship, HR Competencies
