The direct regional elections have been conducted smoothly andpeacefully since June 2005 to 2008 Howeversome ofthe elections have become conflictual The direct regional elections conflict describes two different interestsrom different actors which are the loser and the winner The winner are candidates who won the elections andhave been determined by the KPUD while the loser are those who were not determined by the KPUD as thewinner The loser actors oftenly questioned the voting results decided by the KPUD Many ways have been doneo raise this conftictual issues including through Law This study provides description of direct regional electionsconflict triggerfactors causalfactors behavior ofthe elite and mass in the conflict ways to solve the conflict byhe elite formal and non formal institutions The important thing of this study is description ofthe effects and theuture oflocal democracy in the post struggle ofpowerfollowed by political conflict and resistancy

This essay attempts to analyseproblems andprospects ofthe APEC existence in dealing with the organizationsprinciples implementation Afew years ago the Asia Pack Economic Cooperation APEC one ofthe most meaningful organization in the region has been criticizedfor conducting insufficient efforts in addressing the 1997Asiacrisis Nowadays the organization is currentlyfacing the internal detrimental challenges ofthe raising FTA basedeconomic cooperations i e ASEAN China FTA ASEAN Japan FTA even bilateral based FTAs within the AsiaPacific region These FTAs could turn APEC out to be either breakable or even stronger It is hoped that thepowerfulFTA basis should be a cornerstone towards the sturdy APEC The paper comes to the conclusion that the APECwhich meets the two region Asia and Pacific is an convincinglyfeasible organization to remain taking the yearlydialogue between the developed and developing members This is truly becoming a lucrative opportunity for themembers to express what they want to getfrom this organization

The ASEAN China Free Trade Area ACFTA formally took effect as ofJanuari 1 2010 The initial phase ofÂ the trade agreement was in force in early 2004 also known as the Early Harvest Programme EHP A free tradeÂ area covering trade in goods between China and the original six ASEAN members including Indonesia is to beÂ completed by 2010 and the remainingfour by 2015 However the socialization ofEHP scheme by Indonesian government relativelypoor and made it difficultfor business sector especially Small and Medium Enterprises SMEsÂ in Indonesia to exploit this scheme The full implementation ofACFTA on January 2010 has given strong pushesÂ from business sectors to delay the implementation The basic problem is in our domestic capacity and capabilityÂ which is not yet competitive enough to compete especially with China products Therefore this paper will analyzeÂ the impact of ACFTA on Indonesia and what should be done to counter the impacts
