PENGARUH METODE PEMBELAJARAN DAN KEPRIBADIAN TERHADAP KETERAMPILAN BERBICARA BAHASA INGGRIS SISWA SMA NEGERI DI CIBINONG Rizky Mirani Desi Pratama

The purpose of this study was to show the influence of learning methods and personality towards English speaking skill. Sample size is 60 students consist of 30 students in experiment class and 30 students in control class and the sampling technique is intact class based on Factorial Group design. Research instrument used is a questionnaire about the personality of students who have tested its validity with the reliability coefficient of 0.875 and the test of speaking skills. Data analysis using descriptive statistical method, normality test, homogeneity test and two way ANOVA.The results showed: 1) There are significant effects of learning methods towards English Speaking skill as Fo = 85,435 and sig. = 0,000 < 0,05 2) There is a significant effect of personality towards English Speaking skill, as Fo = 6,741 and sig. = 0,012 < 0,05. 3) There is no significant effect of learning method and personlity towards English Speaking skill as Fo = 1,305 and sig. = 0,258 > 0,05. The results of this study is useful for improving the students’ English speaking skills by using suggetopedia method by considering the factor of student personality type Keywords: Learning Method, Personality, and English Speaking Skill

METAPHOR IN NOVEL “ SEPATU DAHLAN” BY KHRISNA PABICHARA(STYLISTIC ANALYSIS) BY OKTARIYANIoktariyani.yani@yahoo.co.idUNIVERSITAS NAHDATUL ULAMA LAMPUNGABSTRACT. The purpose of this study is to get deep knowledge of metaphor; (1) based on the creation of meaning, ( 2 ) based on images, ( 3 ) based on the meaning of field ecosystem. Describe the functions of the metaphor in the novel Sepatu Dahlan by Krishna Pabichara. The method used this study is content analysis. The approach of this study is stylistic that is part of a qualitative approach. Steps of this research are (a) intensive reading and repeat reading novel that will be research, (b) make notes every phrase, clause, or sentence of metaphor in the novel (c) identify some things there are in objective of this research and (d) do the analysis and do data interpretation.The results of the data analysis found 48 sentences included in the category of metaphor is based on the creation of meaning, which consists of 8 sentences of blank symbols, 28 sentences of natural symbols and private symbols 16 sentences. Found 34 sentences were included in the category of metaphors based on images, which consists of visual 14 sentences, 14 sentences auditory. Taklitis 7 sentences, gustative 2 sentences, images olfaction 1 sentence. Found 55 sentences which are categorized based on the ecosystem metaphor meaning field, which consists of 5 sentences being, Cosmos 10 sentences, 12 sentences energy, to the category of substance is not found in the novel. Terrestrial 3 sentences, the object 3 sentences, living 5 sentences, animate 7 sentences, 10 sentences of a human. While the function of metaphor in the novel of Sepatu Dahlan includes expression language functions and communication of speech acts consisting of illocutionary and perlocutionary. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian mengenai campur kode dan alih kode yang digunakan oleh para anggota himpunan mahasiswa Sastra Jepang (HIMAJE) Universitas Gadjah Mada dalam berkomunikasi di media sosial, yaitu Facebook. Hobi dan ketertarikan yang sama akan hal-hal yang berbau Jepang membuat mereka mempunyai gaya komunikasi khas yaitu penggunaan istilah atau ungukapan-ungkapan bahasa Jepang. Hal tersebut kemudian memunculkan fenomena campur kode dan alih kode dalam komunikasi mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari dan memahami alasan di balik penggunaan istilah dan ungkapan Bahasa Jepang dalam komunikasi mereka. Penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan hasil kuesioner yang dibagikan kepada 25 anggota HIMAJE. Data tersebut kemudian dianalisis menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif . Dari hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa alih kode dan campur kode antara Bahasa Jepang-Indonesia-Jawa disebabkan karena semua anggota grup bisa berbahasa Jepang, fungsi afektif, identitas kelompok, alasan keterpaksaan (need filling motive), alasan pendidikan, dan alasan topik pembicaraan. Dalam film terkadang tersirat peristiwa yang terjadi di dunia nyata, secara sadar ataupun tidak, tokoh yang berperan dalam tersebut seakan mewakili peran manusia di dunia fiksi. Dalam film Tulip Fever karya sutradara kenamaan Justin Chadwick berlatar cerita di negeri Belanda sekitar abad ke tujuh belas. Di mana bunga tulip sedang jadi primadona, di sisi lain seorang pelukis panggilan berani untuk menjalin cinta terlarang terhadap wanita bersuami hanya karena ilusi cinta, ia berusaha untuk bertahan hidup dari bisnis di pasar bursa bunga tulip. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui motivasi Jan Van Loos, tokoh utama dari film ini menjalin dan mempertahankan cinta terlarangnya dengan Sophia, wanita bersuamikan orang terpandang kala itu. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu kualitatif deskriptif, peneliti menganalisis cerita serta bagian-bagiannya yang terdapat dalam film Tulip Fever. Hasil dari penelitian ini nantinya diharapkan dapat menjadi acuan untuk peneliti selanjutnya yang ingin meneliti motivasi mempertahankan cinta terlarang seorang tokoh dalam film ataupun obyek lainnya.Â Â Â Kata Kunci: Film, Tulip Fever, Cinta Terlarang Â

ABSTRACTIn literary works character and characterization are important elements because they built the story. Character is a person represented in a movie, story or other narrative work. In the movie, the character can be used as a field to be analyzed, one of which is psychology. Psychology that discussed in this paper in term of psychological illness that is schizophrenia. The objective of this analyze is to know the schizophrenia that experienced by main character, John Nash that taken from A Beautiful Mind movie. The Analysesare kinds of schizophrenia, the struggles of Nash, and the moral value that we can get from this movie. There are 3 Kinds of schizophrenia that showed in this movie. First, paranoid schizophrenia. The symptoms of paranoid are hallucinations and delusions. Second, disorganized schizophrenia. There are symptoms that experienced by disorganized schizophrenia: disorganized speech and disorganized behavior. Third, undifferentiated schizophrenia. The symptoms is seeming lack of interest in the world: social withdrawal. As the result of schizophrenia that experienced by John Nash, he experience of better alteration. At the end, Nash win the Nobel Prize. Although his hallucination friends never gone, but he never think about it.Keywords: Character, Psychological Disorder, Schizophrenia, A Beautiful Mind Movie

The aim of this final paper is to describe the use of English expression and terms used in hotel room reservation activities. As for the background of writing this paper is related to the importance of the use of English expression properly in accordance with standard operating procedure in a company oriented to the theory from experts. The writer uses a description method that begins with research in PT. Raja Kamar Indonesia. From the analysis of the data from this study contains of conversation and descriptions of terminologies in travel agent. The conclusion of this paper is that readers can understand the work activities of a telephone operator in the hotel reservation division. The activity of expression in English that is used is asking inquiry, reservation, amendment, cancellation and refund. In addition, knowledge of the terms in the reservation becomes inseparable from the activity of reservation work. The author hopes this paper can help readers to know more deeply related to science in the field of reservation.

The Correlation Between Vocabulary Mastery And Self Esteem On Students’ Speaking Skill Nurmala Dewi; Jimmi Jimmi

Abstract - The purpose of this research was to find out whether there is a significant correlations between vocabulary mastery and self esteem on students’ speaking skill. The population of this study was X grade students majoring in natural science at SMU 64 Jakarta Timur, while the sample was 60 students were chosen randomly from those 3 classes. The writer used three instruments to gain the data : a vocabulary test, a speaking test, and a self esteem questionnaire. A quantitative analysis that included descriptive statistic and the correlation and regression analysis tests were conducted to answer the research hypotheses. The research results found that there is a significant simultaneous correlation between vocabulary mastery and self esteem on students’ speaking skill. This finding has proved the views which are vocabulary as a main language component and self esteem as affective factor have contributions in developing learning language especially fon speaking skill. The Effects of Grammar and Vocabulary Mastery on Students’ Reading Comprehension Lilik Yuliawati

The objective of the research is to know the effects of grammar and vocabulary mastery on students’ reading comprehension. This research is a survey at private universities in Bekasi. The total sample of the research is 80 students. The data collection technique of grammar mastery, vocabulary mastery, and reading comprehension is by conducting three sets of multiple choice tests consisting of 30 questions for each test. The data analysis technique of the research is multiple linear regression analysis. Before conducting the regression analysis, there are some prerequisite tests, among others the normality, linearity, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity test. The result of the research is: 1) There is a significant effect of grammar and vocabulary mastery jointly on students’ reading comprehension at private universities in Bekasi. 2) There is a significant effect of grammar mastery on students’ reading comprehension at private universities in Bekasi. 3) There is a significant effect of vocabulary mastery on students’ reading comprehension at private universities in Bekasi. The purposes of the analysis are to find the phatics categories and the function of it in the context of the dialog. The writer provides data from the dialog which consist of phatic categories then analyze it. The data of the analysis are taken from Koala Kumal book written by Raditya Dika. Phatic chategories by Kridalaksana, the function of language by Leech, Criteria of phatics by Jacobson are choosen as the theory in this analysis. Based on the analysis the writer found some categories and the function of phatics. Particle as the phatic category which is mostly found in Koala Kumal book. It has the function to convince the meaning of the statement. Phrases and words are also found in it such as terima kasih, apa kabar, assalamualaikum, wassalamualaikum, and halo. The function of Assalamualaikum, halo, apa kabar are to start the conversation. Besides that terima kasih and wassalamualakum as phrase annd words category of fatis are also used to end the conversation.
