EDUKASI is a peer-reviewed scientific journal that focuses on Religious Educational Research. It published by Center for Research And Development of Religious Education, Republic Indonesia Ministry of Religious Affairs, since 2003 and had been released three times a year. Now (since 2017) it governed in associated and corporated to Religious Researchers Association. And since 2009 it had been accredited by Indonesian Science Institution. Nowadays are about to prepare for becoming International Journal reputation that would be indexed at global high ranked index. As the scientific reading material publication, the EDUKASI aimed to provide readers with a better comprehensive understanding of Religious Educational Studies in Indonesia, and even around Asia countries and the world. We invited all researchers, lecturers, teachers, and whoever interested and have a manuscript of religious education to send off what you have been researched and reported to be published in EDUKASI. The articles should be original, unpublished and not under review for possible publication in any other journals. All submitted manuscripts will be blindly-reviewed by qualified academics in the field. This process may take several weeks or months.

Abstract

The study was conducted in SMU in Jakarta. There were 120 first grade students as the sample of the study, selected through multistage random sampling. The data were gathered by using a metacognition scale. Data analysis was done by using the two-way analysis of variance. The results of the study are: (1) In general, problem-based performance assessment effects students’ metacognition in mathematics, (2) Learning models affect the students’ metacognition in mathematics; in which the cooperative learning model is more effective in improving the students’ metacognition than the classical learning model, (3) There is an interaction effect between problem-based performance assessment and instructional models. Such interaction show that problem solving performance assessment is more effective in improving students’ metacognition in mathematics if it is combined with cooperative learning model; while problem posing performance assessment is more effective if it is combined with classical learning model.

Abstract

Globalisasi adalah keniscayaan yang dihadapi semua lembaga pendidikan. ada tiga agenda yang harus dihadapi oleh lembaga pendidikan. Pertama, lembaga pendidikan perlu mempertimbangkan nilai-nilai humanitas baru yang terkadang sekuler, seperti wacana demokrasi dan multikulturalisme sebagai sarana pembentukan nilai menghadapi modernitas. Kedua, lembaga pendidikan perlu semakin kompetitif untuk membuktikan eksistensinya di antara lembaga pendidikan yang lain. Ketiga, terkait dengan tuntutan pasar,lembaga pendidikan perlu mereview sistem pembelajarannya, sehingga lulusannya dapat berkompetisi di pasar kerja.

Abstract

Perbedaan antara budaya sekolah yang dimiliki oleh sekolah yang memiliki prestasi tinggi dengan sekolah yang prestasinya lebih rendah, baik dalam norma, kepercayaan, maupun nilai-nilai yang berlaku di sekolah tersebut. Perbedaan budaya sekolah dari kedua sekolah tersebut ditunjukkan dengan angka 3.56. Walau secara statistic berbeda, namun perbedaannya tidak terlalu jauh. Hal ini disebabkan oleh adanya budaya masyarakat di sekitar sekolah yang ikut berpengaruh dalam proses pendidikan di sekolah. Kesimpulan ini merupakan hasil penelitian kuantitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner dengan skala Likert dan wawancara tidak terstruktur serta observasi. Analisis data menggunakan deskriptif statistic dan analisis inferensial (uji beda/t-test).

Abstract

This article focuses on strategy that might be applied by Islamic Higher Education as part of National Higher Education-which up to this time still walking for behind it-to increase its quality. Some strategies written on this paper are the up to date of higher education, approaches like market based approach, learning organization, customer loyalty, service quality, entrepreneurship, commitment, etc., that hopefully able to become the strategies to increase the quality of Islamic Higher Education in Indonesia.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to investigate the effects of instructional strategies and thinking style on reasoning ability. The study was conducted at the State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, with of method 2x2 factorial design. This study finds that (1) reasoning ability of the students who use metacognition strategy is higher that of those who use conventional strategy, (2) reasoning ability of the students with divergent thinking style who use metacognition strategy is higher than those who use conventional strategy, (3) reasoning ability of the students with convergent thinking style who use metacognition strategy is lower than that of those who use conventional strategy, and (4) there is an interaction between instructional strategies and thinking style that effects students’ reasoning ability. The study concludes that instructional strategies of metacognition effects the reasoning ability in learning, particularly for students who have divergent thinking style.

Abstract

The development of general education program at Islamic Religious Tertiary Education (PTAI) is feasible to conduct in order to meet the people’s demand, in addition to increase enrollment and improve the competitiveness of PTAI graduates. However, it also needs to make a re-arrangement on PTAI institutional management seriously. Firstly, it needs to formulate a standard rule which specifically governs clearly the organization of PTAI, including on how to regulate the conditions, process and legal base for PTAI when it is going to organize a general study program. Secondly, the pattern of concentration development or study program at PTAI should refer to the applicable statutory regulation, according to the scientific atmosphere of University, Institute, and Tertiary school, so it will not occur an overlapping between one and the other, and become clear also the respective domain of such institutions in educational development.

Abstract

The policy of Final National Examination (UN) standardization has caused madrasah to become trapped in practical efforts to help students pass by focusing on repetitive practice of tests in the examination subjects. Learning was not a process of developing on maturing, but one of earning high test score and passing the UN. Ironically, the development of student potential was not a priority for the teaching-learning process as a result of the high importance given to test scores. The deification of test score and the application of the policy of standardization have resulted in the process of education causing fear in students. Finally, students experience stress and depression due to fear of failing the UN. Therefore, the policy of standardization of passing grades in the UN must be changed to reflect the spirit of decentralization of passing grades in the UN must be changed to reflect the spirit of decentralization and regional autonomy and appreciation of diversity of school quality and capacity for teaching and learning. Data collection methods were in-depth interviews and document analysis.

Abstract

This paper attempts to portrait the journey of madrasah (religious school) during the last five years, i.e. since the enactment of Law of RI number 20 of 2003 regarding the National educational system which poditions a madrasah as general school. This reposition is actually positive for the sustainability as well as improving the quality of madrasah. However, it should be noted that more than 90% of madrasah are managed by public. this means that madrasah still has to be developed according to the public requierements, not that government. Thus, to create a policy on madrasah, it obviously is necessary to accommodate various public interests. Exactly, it is needed a harmonious and dynamics convergency between the government and the people.
