Abstract

The assumption of homogeneous error varianceunderlying the OLS method is very important to get the bestlinear unbiased estimation of the regression coefficients. Thispaper aims to compare the width of confidence interval which isresulted by the OLS, the WLS, and the robust regression methodswhen the error term is not homogen. Comparing the three methodsindicate that the width of confidence interval by the robustregression method is narrower than the OLS method but the WLSmethod is the narrowest.

Abstract

Multilocationtrials play an important role in agronomic research. Theseare often used to analyse the adaptability of genotypes indifferent environments. Multilocation trials also are usedto find out which environment is the best location to adaptfor each genotype that is the highest yielding in the environmentand to determine the pattern of response of genotypes acrossenvironments. ANOVA is used to compute genotype and environmentadditive effects. However, it cannot be used to analyse agenotype-environmental interaction. Principle component analysis(PCA) is only used to analyse non additive interaction effects. The statistical analysis recommended here combines the Anovawith PCA that is Additive Main effects and MultiplicativeInteraction (AMMI) with PCA. It begins with the usual analysisof variance to compute genotype and environment additive effects, and then applies PCA to analyse non additive interaction effects. The results of AMMI analysis is presented graphically in theform of biplots. The use of these procedure is exemplifiedusing secondary data set of the mean yield of padi from TheCenter of Indonesian Padi Research in Sukamandi.

Abstract

AnticipatingDHF outbreak possibility in Kelurahan Widodomertani -Kabupaten Sleman Yogyakarta was necessary done a research. Theresearch covered a study about vector DHF (Dengue HaemorhagicFever) population in Kelurahan Widodomertani. Main activitiesstudying a relative population were larvae and adultmosquitoes surveilance. Those surveilance did to achievelarvae index i.e.: HI (House Index), CI (Container Index), BI(Breteu Index), and the mosquitoes index was HDI (HouseDensity Index). Meanwhile mosquitoes identification need to bedone as well. The research was carried out in March 2002 andSeptember 2002. The results described the small possibilityhaving an outbreak of DHF in a short time. There were foundthree species of mosquitoes i.e.: Aedes albopictus, Culexquinquefasciatus, and Anopheles aconitus. Index values oflarvae and adult mosquitos were HI= 20.0%, CI= 17.6%, BI=16.0%, and HDI= 0.30 in March 2002, increased to HI= 36.7%,CI= 30.8%, BI= 26.0%, and HDI= 0.56 in September 2002.

Abstract

Merawang chicken is one of local chickensthat comes from Merawang region in the province of BangkaBelitung. It is one of the poultry that has good potentialto be used as egg producer and meat producer. There is a littleinformation about it However, the region where it comes from,it attracts a lot of attentions because it has promising potentials. The objective of this research is to identify performanceof Merawang chicken that raised in Bogor region. The resultsare the average of female body weight is 1234.1 grams, andfor the male is 1474.5 grams, length of shank is 9.7 cm andmortality is 9.6%.. The DOC weight is little bit bigger thanthat find in the original region. The results of performancewhich include body weight, length of shank, feed consumption, feed conversion and mortality are still good as produces inthe original region. Cost analyzes show that it is more benefitif the chickens used as layer than meat producer. This research gives useful additional informationon the existence of one of local chickens in Indonesia thathas potential for poultry husbandry
