Abstract

This research aims at describing (1) the agents participating in preserving carving art values, (2) the agents involved in the network of the direct socialization process of carving art values, and (3) the agents involved in the network of the indirect socialization process of carving art values. Descriptive-qualitative approach was applied in the research. The techniques of data collecting used were in-depth interview, participatory observation, and content analysis. The quotation technique was based on purposive and snowball samplings. To keep the data valid, triangulation and informant re-checking were carried out and interactive model was used as the analysis technique. From the result of the research, it can be concluded that the existence of carving art in Jepara was much influenced by the network of socialization process, both direct and indirect, of carving art values. The network of direct socialization process ran through formal and informal ways; while the network of indirect socialization process ran through informal ways. The formal socialization took place in educational institutions from Kindergartens, Elementary Schools, to Junior High Schools, while the informal socialization took places in apprenticeship and business environment. The indirect socializationtookplaceinfamilies,amongpeerfriends,inmosques,andinmassmedia.

Abstract

The main problem of this research is to answer the following questions: are thereanyfactorsinfluencing:levelofeffectiveworkingmodelandviewsofgarbageman. The main objective of this research is to reveal the effective working model and the garbageman's view on work ethic. The number of research respondents is 200 garbagemen in Surakarta determined by using cluster random sampling. The research data were obtained by using questionnaire and then they were analyzed by using regression and linear analyses. The results of the research showed that: (1) There was no significantly positive direct effect towards the income standard on the level of effective working motivation and working satisfaction; (2) There was a significantly positive direct effect towards working model and garbageman's view on effective working motivation and effective contribution (1,93%); (3) There was a significantly positive effective effect towards working model and garbageman's view on the factors of working satisfaction level and effective contribution (2,47%); (4) There was a significantly positive effect towards working model and garbageman's view on the factors of living standard and effective contribution (6,17%); (5) There was no direct effect towards workingmodelandgarbageman'sviewonthefactorsofeffectiveworkingmotivationand working satisfaction through income standard factor. Therefore, there must be a revision ofmodeloncorrelationalvariablesassumedinthisresearch.

Abstract

Until recently, the government faced the problems of the handicapped's labor force. The management of handling those problems is much more complex than that of normal unemployment. The complexity is indicated by the following issues: (a) vacancies,(b)skillsmastery,(c)highrequirementstogetajob,and(d)theinternalinterference of the handicapped's conditions. Based on these facts, the program of occupational rehabilitation service is crucial. This research aims to develop a model of occupational rehabilitation service based on environment view for the handicapped people. This research is also aimed at (a) figuring out the difference of their skill mastery before and aftertreatmentand(b)knowingthefeasibilityoftheappliedmodel.Themodelcomprises of (1) screening, (2) assessing and classifying the handicapped children and environment, (3) planning occupational rehabilitation program, (4) implementing the program, (5)evaluating,(6)placementandfollowup.ThisresearchisconductedinSurakarta.The subjects, 20 persons who graduate from junior and senior of special schools (SLTP and SMLB), were taken purposively as sample. To collect the data, the methods of observation, interview, test, and document are used. The data then were analyzed through qualitative descriptive, descriptive statistic, and non parametric statistic. The result of the research showed that (a) the model of environment based on occupational rehabilitation was feasible; (b) there was a significant difference of the handicapped children's skillmasterybeforeandaftertreatmentwithlessthan1%error.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to reveal the effectiveness of participative approach to increase the environment knowledge of students in elementary schools. This research was carried out in Semarang. The populations are students of elementary schools. Sampling technique was done based on cluster random sampling. SD Sekaran 01 is as an experiment class and SD Sekaran 02 is as a control class. The research uses post-test only control group design. To obtain the data, achievement test was conducted aftertreatment.Thedatawereanalyzedwitht-test.Theresultoftheresearchshowedthat there is a significant difference between the achievement of experiment class and that of control class. This means that the participatory approach is effective to increase the environmentknowledgeofelementaryschoolstudents.

Abstract

This study aimed to: (1) identify the kind of students' difficulties in learning literature; (2) find out the kind of teacher's difficulties and errors in teaching literature; (3) find out the concept of using various resources study and facilities in learning literature that are available at school and society; and (4) find out a model of teaching literature that is suitable for junior high school students. The method of the research was a classroom action research. The research was conducted at SLTP 4 Surakarta from August to November 2000, consisting of 3 cycles learning activities by implementing practice-active approach. The practice-active approach is a strategy to unite between teaching learning activity in the classroom with any literature studies' activities outside theschoolbymeansofutilizingfacilitiesandresourcesstudiesavailableinthesociety.To enhance the student's understanding and appreciation to the literature being studied, the students were exposed directly to the literature followed by reading, analyzing, and practicing to write prose and poem based on the model available. The research result showed that the implementation of practice-active approach, in fact, did solve various students' and teachers' difficulty in the learning and teaching literature. After carrying the action, the students' capability in comprehending literature as well as their appreciationoftheliteratureimproved.

Abstract

This research aims to determine a relationship between structure and derivation mastery and reading comprehension ability, either separately or simultaneously. This research was conducted in Surakarta. The population was the students of Elementary School Teacher Education, Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP) UNS, and the samples were 60 students taken by random technique. The instrument for collecting data was achievement tests, whereas the technique analysis for analyzing the data was the statistical technique of regression and correlation. The result of analysis shows that there is positive correlation between structure and derivation mastery and readingcomprehensionsability,eitherseparatelyorsimultaneously.

Abstract

This research aims at revealing learning achievement using Tandur Strategy. The research made use of descriptive and inferential analyses using ANAKOVA. The results of the research showed that: (1) students who were taught using Tandur strategy on the topic of Linier Program have finished classical comprehension, while students who were taught conventionally have not finished classical comprehension; (2) on the base of Inferential Statistic Analyses using ANAKOVA, the students who were taught usingTandurStrategywasdifferentsignificantlyfromthestudentswhoweretaughtusing conventional learning model. These analyses revealed that the result of study of the students who followed Linier Program Learning using Tandur Strategy were better than thosewhojoinedLinierProgramLearningusingconventionalmodelinMathematics.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to know the kinds of error patterns, reasons, and the problems of solving whole number subtraction. The research used qualitative approachwithCollaborativeActionResearchatgradeIIISDNegeri2Panjer,Kebumen. Theresultoftheresearchshowedthat(1)kindsoferrorpatternsare:readingandwriting thenumber;subtractionconceptfromtheones,thetens,thehundredsandthethousands; incomplete algorithm; random error; place value; basic fact; the big number is subtracted by the little number; error pattern 0 -a = a; error pattern a-b = 0 if a < b; and not remembering subtracting after borrowing, (2) The error patterns were done by students because they didn't understand symbol of number, subtraction concept, basic fact of subtraction, place value; and they didn't remember to subtract when they were regrouping, answering estimation; not being care, and writing the number, (3) To solve the problem of subtracting whole number at student grade III elementary school, the researcher conducted remedial teaching to find the students' error patterns and to fit the hierarchicalstudyofwholenumbersubtraction.
