Abstract

This article aims to determine the role of subjects Cross-Cultural Understanding in an effort de-radicalization among students majoring in English and optimize it to protect students from the influence of radical Islam. The collection of data carried out by interviewing several CCU lecturers in Islamic Education and Teacher Training Faculty IAIN Surakarta and distributing questionnaires to English Education students using Google Drive. Interviews indicate that this course has a close relationship with efforts to de-radicalization of Islam. As the results of the questionnaire indicate that 69.8% of students answered strongly agree Cross-Cultural Understanding courses teach to tolerate as an effort to reduce radical movements, hereby this course can be used by English educators to contribute in efforts to the de-radicalization program.Keywords:Cross-cultural understanding, Islamic radicalism, De-radicalization

Abstract

This paper is aimed to examine the respond of students toward peer-tutoring method in a bilingual program that is held by Teacher and Training Faculty of IAIN Surakarta. This research using qualitative descriptive approach, that using interviews to collect the data. The data then analyzed through the literature review. The results show that the peer-tutoring method could improve the ability of the students. But, there is some problem with the peer-tutoring method such as the low awareness of students to learn English and also the bad structure of the material made the learning atmosphere unconducive. Thus, the tutor should maximize their creativity in order to succeed the bilingual program.Keywords:bilingual program, peer-tutoring method, student, respond

Abstract

This study aims to determine the degree level of Islamic banking participation to support the financial inclusion for the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (SME). Through the qualitative descriptive approach, with batik Laweyan as its case study, the result revealed that the role of Islamic banking in the existence of SME batik Laweyan still very low, the socialization of their product also minimum, thereby the SME batik Laweyan not interested in doing loan or financing. Some of the influencing factors are Islamic banking considered having complicated in the procedure, unfamiliar term used for their product, feeling uncertain and afraid to make sharia the bank financing.Keywords:Islamic banking, SME, Batik Laweyan

Abstract

This article is structured to examine the Islamic psychotherapy model using zikr with saying "Subhanallah" to improve the mental health of the students. This research uses descriptive qualitative approach by collecting data from observation and interview to student who become santri at the boarding school of Al-Hikmah, Sraten, Gatak, Sukoharjo. The author also conducts the literature review of books and articles which is relevant with the research problem, in order to enrich the discussion. The results of the research indicate that the Islamic psychotherapy model using zikr can create inner peace, therefore it will improve the mental health. The improved inner health is marked by the increased ability of students to receive course materials, can control emotions, and also increased learning achievement. Thus, the model of zikr psychotherapy can be used to improve mental health.Keywords:zikr, psychotherapy, health, mental

Abstract

This research is intended to explore various of Scout activities in Racana of IAIN Surakarta that contribute and have a role in developing the personality of the counselor. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the data are collected through interviews then analyzed with literature review. The results show that activities in Racana such as Riska, Pandega, Binsat, Kerekaan and daily activities are not only aimed at forming professionalism in the field of scout profession but also have a role in developing counselor personality. Personality developed such as empathy, responsibility, confident, socially sensitive, sociable, self-understanding, understanding each other, and also professionalism. Activities at Racana are also useful for self-actualization for counselors. Thus, Racana activities can be maximized to develop counselor's personality.Keywords: Personality, Counselor, Scout

Abstract

This study discusses about the communication model between santri and kiai, comparing between alumni of pesantren modern and pesantren salaf. Based on the qualitative approach, data showed that santri and kiai in the both of two pesantrens having communication, even in different model. Communication in the pesantren salaf done by direct communication (face to face), while in pesantren modern the communication must following some procedures. Alumnae from both of pesantren salaf and modern were having good relationship with kiai. In pesantren salaf, kiai has closer relationship to santri even to his/her family, while in pesantren modern the relationship of santri and kiai just like teacher to his student, the only certain students who have closer relationship to kiai.Keywords:Communication model, Pesantren, Kyai, Santri.

Abstract

The granting of Islamic philanthropy to Muslim minorities, such as ex-Gafatar, has been practiced by Lazizmu Surabaya. However, such practices are still minimally undertaken by other Islamic philanthropy managers. Many philanthropic practices are aimed at Muslims. This paper wishes to analyze the function of philanthropy for ex-Gafatar members in Indonesia, with a qualitative descriptive method. This paper argues that Islamic philanthropy for ex-Gafatar members not only as a symbol of charity and solving poverty also creates social justice and de-radicalization efforts.Keywords:Islamic Philanthropy, ex-Gafatar, social justice, deradicalization.

Abstract

This research aims to see the various religious understanding of students in IAIN Surakarta from their activities and the existence of Islamic values in the Student Activity Unit. Even though, the study focuses on the various understanding which is moderate in term of its ideology and attitude. Using descriptive-qualitative approach, this research showed that variation of the student religious understanding at IAIN Surakarta, in term of their attitudes was moderate, which are able to be seen from their way of thinking and acting that emphasizing on the principles of tawassuth (moderate), tawazun (balance), i’tidal (middle-way) and tasamuh (tolerance). In addition, the ideology of religion, which is applied by the Student Activity Unit, was also in accordance with the value of moderate understanding.Keywords:Various-understanding, Islamic-values, Moderate understanding,

Abstract

This article attempts to explore the role of father’s communication in a child's mental development. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the data were collected by interviewing 10 informants at Pondok Tahfidz Karanganyar, then the data were analyzed by literature review. The results showed that father's communication to children is very important in forming the child's mental. In addition, harsh communication to the children will negatively affect the child's mental development, so they become testy, often moody, and difficult to socialize. The quality of father and child communication is influenced by several factors, such as education level and family economic condition. Thus, the father must pay attention to the quality of his communication in order to form a positive mentality to the child.Keywords:father, communication, child’s mental development

Abstract

This article tries to examine cultural identity in novel Kembar Keempat written by Sekar Ayu Asmara by exposing postmodernism characteristic. This research uses descriptive-analysis method that is used to review postmodernism from Jean-Francois Lyotard. The result shows that in novel Kembar Keempat from Sekar Ayu Asmara, there is culture identity from postmodernism view of religion: as liberation and reformation, evasion of identity and masking: as shaping impression, and culture adaption: as a culture expression that borderless.Keywords:Postmodernism, Culture identity, Kembar keempat
