Abstract

White-Spotted Spinefoot (Siganus canaliculatus Park, 1797) is one of fishery commundities that has many potentials to be developed. This research aims to know the food habits of White-Spotted Spinefoot caught in the waters of Makassar Strait. The sample collection conducted from March 2014 through April 2016 in the earn from the landing place of the fish of Paotere in Makassar. The analysis of the samples carried out in the Laboratory of Fish Biology, Department of Fisheries, Hasanuddin University, Makassar. The number of samples obtained during the research of 145 the number of fish consists of 128 fish males and 17 females fish. Based on the results of the analysis of the White-Spotted Spinefoot fish eating habits lingkis time-based sampling, gender, body size and the type of food eaten by fish Lingkis most White-Spotted Spinefoot i.e. Bacillariophyceae. Time-based sampling, Bacillariophyceae. Most in the packed in April, with the value of 84,9552%. Based on the gender of Bacillariophyceae worth respectively 76,0911%% in fish 78.6527 fish% males and females. A comparative analysis of the results of long gastrointestinal (gut) tool with a body length of fish then fish White-Spotted Spinefoot Lingkis are herbivores. Keywords: White-Spotted Spinefoot, food habits, Makassar Strait

Abstract

One of the procedures of coastal ecosystem management is the development of the concept of silvofishery that combines the fishpond with the mangrove vegetation in it. The insight of sivofishery as part of environmental education will contribute to the behavior of farmer rsilvofishery in the coastal ecosystem. Therefore, this research is conducted to determine the effect of 1) environmental insight, ecosystems and conservation, 2) environmental attitudes and 3) environmental motivation, ecosystem and conservation on silvofishery-oriented behaviors. By conducting a survey and questionnaire data obtained from 200 farmers in East Sinjai subdistrict, and with Structural Equation Model (SEM) analysis through Amos 2.2 program, the following research results are obtained; 1) the insight has no direct effect on silvofishery-oriented behavior; 2) attitudes has effect on the behavior of silvofishery insight; 3) insight has no direct effect on motivation; 4) motivation has a direct effect on silvofishery-oriented behavior, especially on embankment and ditch patterns. Keywords: Silvofishery insight and behavior, coastal ecosystem

Abstract

This research was aim to compare community structure and abundance of phytoplankton in Kapoposang Island. The result of this research was expected to be used as an information of the effect of waters quality on abundances, community structure and phytoplankton species composition in Kapoposang Island. This research was conducted on February and May 2016 in Kapoposang Island, Pangkajene and Islands Regency. Identification of samples was conducted in Fish Pest and Diseases Laboratory, Department of Fisheries, Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries, Hasanuddin University. The results showed community structure of phytoplankton in Kapoposang Island based on sampling station were not significantly different (P>0,05), whereas community structure of phytoplankton based on rainy and summer seasons were significantly different (p<0,05).Alexandrium kutneraee, Toxarium undulatum dan Bellerochea horologicalesis most contribute species in Kapoposang Island the most average abundancesof phytoplankton was foundon summer season in Kapoposang Island1.591.494 cells/L.Both of the islands has high equitability index value and the distribution was homogeneous. The value of diversity index showed in all of the stations, phytoplankton community were mid stable and the dominance index showed both of the islands have dominant species. Keywords: Kapoposang Island, Phytoplankton, community structure, abundance, ecological index

Abstract

There are 8 species of flatfish in the waters of the Spermonde archipelago, South Sulawesi, but only one has thick body, that is Psettodes erumei. Development of flatfish P.erumei populations can be done if its reproductive aspect is known. In this study we will examine the changes of liver through the Hepatosomatic Index (HSI) associated with the growth of oocytes based on Gonad Maturity Stage (GMS). The Hepatosomatic Index (HSI) is defined as the ratio of weight body to weight liver. The value of this index gives an indication of the status of energy reserves in animals. The results of this study indicate a change in liver weight based on HSI which increases following the increase of oocyte size based on GMS. HSI increased sharply after GMS II and ahead of GMS III, which then increase not too big again after GMS III. This suggests an increase in food reserves stored in the liver, to support the oocyte reaching the beginning of its gonad maturity. Keywords : Hepatosomatic Index (HSI), Gonad Maturity Stage (GMS), Oocyte, Reproduction, Flatfish Psettodes erumei

Abstract

The objectives of the study were to analyze the sustainable yield level and the optimum catching of the squid Loligo sp. in the waters of Pangkajene and Kepulauan Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The study was conducted from April to May 2013 by collecting production data and catching efforts on squid by type of catch and fishing gear, the period of 2005-2010. Data obtained from the Department of Marine and Fisheries of South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. Production data and catching efforts are standardized, then continued potential sustainability estimation analysis using the Schaefer and Fox Model. Data analysis was done by comparative descriptive. The results showed that squid in Pangkajene and Kepulauan waters based on Schaefer model approach was obtained by estimation of sustainable catch result 155.2326 tons per year, estimation of optimum catching effort (Fopt) 12,140.8780 trips per year. Based on Fox model approach shows the estimated value of sustainable catch is 131.6589 tons per year, estimation of optimum catching effort (Fopt) is 9,255.0821 trips per year. Based on this, the catching of squid in Pengkajene and Kepualaun waters has not experienced over fishing. Keywords: catch, MSY, Foptimum, FPI, effort standard.

Abstract

Study on several metals in Lake Hasanuddin University (Unhas) has been conducted as a basis of management of the lake as an aquaculture activity. This study was performed by sampling of water, sediment and biota, such as fish.  The results revealed that the average of temperature 32.72 oC has exceeded the threshold of the quality standard.  The average of dissolved oxygen, ammonia, pH were 5.8 mg/l, 0.016 mg/l, and 7.72 respectively.  Consentrations of nitrate and phosphate were 0.39 and 0.28 mg / l, respectively. Concentrations of mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd) and cobalts (Co) were not detected in water coloumn.  Arsenic (As) was detected in level that still allowed by the threshold of the quality standard.  Concentrations of chromium (Cr) and plumbum (Pb) have exceeded the threshold of the quality standard.  In sediment, Hg and As were not detected, but Cr was detected in level that not exceed the the threshold of the quality standard.  Conccentrations of Cd, Co and Pb detected exceed the threshold of the quality standard.  Silver barb (Barbonymus gonionotus) that live in the lake has been contaminated by As, Cd and Pb. Keywords: Lake Unhas, metals, aquaculture, Silver barb.
