Abstract

Surgical services are hospital services which often lead to medical injuries and complications such as wound infection (ILO) and anesthetic complications are becoming one of the most common causes of serious surgical complications. Provision of appropriate drug therapy, safe, effective and patient safety standards and monitoring operations can be reduces the incidence of complications and mortality of patients. The use of appropriate drug therapy, safe and effective can be determined by evaluation of the use of drugs. This study aims to describe the pattern of drug use and appropriateness of using the drug in patients in the preoperative surgical installation of central dr. Soekardjo Tasikmalaya which include proper indications, the exact dosage and drug interactions. This study is a cross-sectional, Data collection was done prospectively and statistical data. Data generated from the 120 patients who met the inclusion criteria preoperative inaccuracy indications showed 22.5%; inaccuracy dose of 22.9% and 87.5% of potential drug interactions. Keywords: preoperative, drug use evaluation, Antibiotic prophylaxis, anesthesia.

Abstract

Background : Giving the drug information and counceling are parts of pharmacist clinical task as be stated in ministry of health statue number 35 year 2014 on Pharmacy service standar in community pharmacy (Permenkes no 35 tahun 2017 tentang standar pelayanan kefarmasian di apotek). Through these tasks, pharmacist can inprove the patient therapy outcome. Aim : The purpose o this study was to describe the clinical service of  drug information in community pharmacies (CP) at South Tangerang City. Methods : This was a descriptive-explorative study with survey technic. Sample were the 50 CPs and clinical pharmacy services were evaluated on their pharmacist who could be met at the visiting time. Results & Conclusion : Thirty eight percent of pharmacists could be met at the visiting time. The highest percentage of drug information service is drug usage (72,22%) whereas the lowest are drug interaction and the way of its prevention i.e 5,55%.  The quality of pharmacy clinical service of drug information is 41,66% and meet the bad criteria. The clinical pharmacy service of drug information in south Tangerang has not been run well and met the Pharmacy service standard yet. Keywords: drug information service, pharmacit, south tangerang, community pharmacy.

Abstract

Pumpking seed oil (Cucurbita pepo L.) popular as healthy oil and became natural antioxidant as consist of various unsaturated fatty acid, carotenoid, flavonoid and polyphenolic. The purpose of this research is to study the compounds on pumpkin seed oil that has antioxidant activity by determining fatty acids composition of the oil using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and antioxidant activity by inhibiting free-radical DPPH and determination of total polypheolic content as gallic acid using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. Pumpkin seed oil was produced by solvent extraction with Soxhlet apparatus used as sample. Oil samples was reacted to form fatty acid methyl ester for component analysis by GC-MS determination. Antifree-redical activity was determined using UV-Vis spectrophotometry to count the IC50 value of concentration series of mixed samples and free-radical DPPH compared to vitamin C as standard antioxidant. Total poliphenolic content as gallic acid was determined using UV-Vis Spectrophotometry by reacting samples with Folin-Ciocalteau reagent. Pumpkin seed oil content at least 10 moderate chain fatty acid, saturated and unsaturated, volatile oil and carotenoid. Antixidant activity of pumpkin seed oil with IC50 value of 16,90(±0,28)mg/L in inhibiting free-radical DPPH and has total polyphenolic content as gallic acid of 0,212%.Keywords: pumpkin seed oil, antioxydant, DPPH free radical, polyphenolic, UV sepctrophotometry, GC-MS.

Abstract

Okra (Abelmoschus esculatus l. Moench) fruit has been used empirically and scientifically proven to have effect to control  blood cholesterol and blood glucose level. However, there has been no research on okra ethanol extract acute toxicity effect on hepatocyte. This research was aim to evaluate okra ethanol extract acute toxicity on liver using SGOT, SGPT and liver histopathology parameter after given 300 mg/kg bw (1 dose), 2000 mg/kg bw (dose 2) and 5000 mg/kg bw (3 doses) okra ethanol extract to female wistar rats. There were no significant differences on SGOT and SGPT level among all of experiment groups, but SGOT and SGPT increased along with increasing dosage. Histopathology showed no significant damage on hepatocytes. Okra ethanol extract has no acute toxic effect on the liver. Keywords: Okra, SGOT, SGPT, histopathology.

Abstract

Indonesia has various types of plants those have potential as medicine to overcome health problems in line with the expanding of traditional medicine industry. One example of plants from the Zingiberaceae family is Hedychium coronarium, which is not widely known by the community despite it has efficacy as an antibacterial which is not inferior to other Zingiberaceae family. The research was conducted to determine whether the Hedychium coronarium rhizome shown to have antibacterial activity against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, knowing antibacterial compound that contained in Hedychium coronarium rhizome, also knowing the most effective extraction method to take the antibacterial compound from Hedychium coronarium rhizome. The gandasuli rhizome was extracted by maceration and reflux with 96% ethanol. Antibacterial activity test carried out by the agar diffusion method, and the analysis of antibacterial compounds with bioautography, and the results are monitored with vanillin-sulfuric acid. Maceration and reflux extract at a concentration of 90% has antibacterial activity with inhibition zones, each for 8 and 10 mm against Escherichia coli as well as 9 and 10 mm against Staphylococcus aureus. Bioautography results show a positive effect on the appearance of vanillin-sulfuric acid. Reflux extract has better antibacterial activity, while the antibacterial compound is an essential oil group. Keywords: Hedychium coronarium, antibacterial, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, bioautography.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a group of metabolic diseases with characteristics of hyperglycemia that occur due to abnormalities in insulin secretion, insulin performance or both. Drug interactions are one of the drug-related problems that can affect patient therapy. The possibility of drug interactions increasing 2.5 times for each drug added to the patients prescription, and in patients with diabetes mellitus is more susceptible to side effects from drug interactions. This study was conducted to find out what the number of potential events of drug interactions, how the severity of drug interactions, and how the type and amount of diabetes mellitus drugs interacted at the Outpatient Gunung Jati Hospital in Cirebon City. This research was conducted with observational design with descriptive analysis method by taking retrospective DM patient prescription data in January 2018. The results showed that from 100 prescriptions stated as a sample, 84 prescriptions (84%) experienced potential drug interactions, and 84 prescriptions there were 425 occurrences of drug interactions, potential drug interactions based on the severity, the number of incidence drug interactions of strict monitor/ significant / moderate were 291 (68.14%), minor were 120 (28.10%), serious were 15 (3.51%) and contra indication were 0 (0%). The results of the study of antidiabetic mellitus drugs that caused the most potential drug interactions, namely metformin, were 115 events. Keywords: Diabetes Mellitus (DM), Drug Interaction Potential, Gunung Jati Hospital Cirebon City.
