Abstract

In addition to providing benefits, mining activities can result in physical, chemical, biological and marginal changes for plant growth. Criteria of plants used for revegetation of land mines are rapidly growing in the neighborhood marginal, allowing other types of grow on the land, producing fruits that are easily spread by birds, and producing a litter easier undergoing decomposition. This research aims to know the biodiversity and natural vegetation types of suitability identification for revegetation land post-mining tin. Observation of post-mining land was carried out to identify the physical and chemical properties of the soil and the type, density, and distribution of vegetation in the observation plots. Analysis of the suitability of vegetation types with rehabilitation land refers to the criteria in Permenhut No P.4/Menhut-II/2011 with modifications. Soil texture on former tin mining land was dominated by sand, is acidic, and has low nutrients. There were 35 types of plants found, ten species of trees and three types of shrubs among them, which have the potential to be used in revegetating post-tin mining land, namely. i.e., the Acacia mangium, Syzygium buxifolium, Syzygium racemosum Blume, Schima wallichii, Trema orientalis, Eugenia sp., Alstonia angustifolia, Ficus padana, Alstonia scholaris, Vitex pinnata L, Syzygium sp, Melastoma malabthricum dan Melastoma polyanthum.

Abstract

Limited community knowledge about the functions and benefits of mangrove ecosystems, as well as management and utilization without regard to sustainability, causes damage to mangrove ecosystems, as a result logging for the conversion of mangrove land into pond land continues to increase. Community institutions in efforts to preserve mangrove forests have an important role, therefore, this study aims to analyze the potential for local institutional support in mangrove forest management. The sampling method is based on the analysis of key figures of communities involved in mangrove forest management. The data collection method was conducted by in-depth interviews of 30 respondents and the analysis used in this study was qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of the study explained that the situation shows that some mangrove forests have been damaged and community activities are still concentrated on pond processing. The structure shows that the authority in mangrove forest management is specifically regulated by the village government and Perum Perhutani while community groups as partners. Behavior illustrates that the community has access to the utilization of mangrove forest potential for both food and board processing, and performance shows that the use of mangrove forests is still limited to processing fruit for food needs

Abstract

Forest management by the people independently has been promoted by the government since the 1980s. As a result, people are now starting to understand the importance of forest management on privately owned land. The function of private forests, apart from increasing people's income, is also for soil and water conservation. The impact of the function of soil and water conservation is widely felt by the community, not only by land owners. The community's sustainable forest management model is managed by combining timber plants with agricultural crops, to obtain benefits more quickly. This method is better known as agroforestry. Agroforestry management develops by combining three commodities, namely timber, agricultural crops and livestock crops, which is called agrosilvopastura. The management of agrosilvopastura is still not widely known by the community, therefore in this stud, we want to know the level of public understanding or perception of the community about the management of agorsilvopastura. The research was conducted in Karyasari Village, Leuwiliang District, Bogor Regency. It was carried out in Leuwiliang District because the potential for community forest is quite large for the Bogor Regency area. Methods of data collection by distributing closed questionnaires and processing with a Likert scale. The results of this study indicate that the people of Karyasari Village have a good perception of 4.328 on the Likert scale. This shows that the people of Karyasari Village have a good understanding of the implementation of agrosilvopastura. Agrosilvopastura activities in Karyasari Village have been well integrated so that they can provide a high contribution to community income, namely 53% from the forestry sector, 24.8% from the agricultural sector and 9.1% from the livestock sector.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the anatomical structure of wood and its possiblity uses for trade in Aceh Besar District. The research was carried out by observing 13 wood samples from the Bogorience 1915 xylarium wood collection. The observed samples included macroscopic and microscopic characteristics. Macroscopic characteristics include texture, color, pattern, texture, and grain direction of the wood. Microscopic characteristics observed were growth circumference boundaries, vessels, pores, dots, and radii based on the International Association of Wood Anatomists (IAWA) book. Each preparation was observed using a microscope and analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the anatomical structures of the macroscopic and microscopic properties of the 13 Aceh Besar wood species varied in terms of texture, grain direction, radius size, crystal type, fiber length, vessel length, and fiber wall thickness. While the pattern, color, distribution of pores, type of dots, type of perforation area, type of parenchyma cells, and the composition of the cells composing the radius show uniformity, and two kinds of wood have prismatic crystals, namely Surian wood in upright cells and Bangkirai wood in straight cells lie down. The 13 types of wood, 46% include strong class I-II for construction, bridges, pillars, and floors. Meanwhile, 54% is classified as strong class III-V as a material for making furniture, doors, windows, and products that do not require heavy strength.

Abstract

Community based forest management is believed to be able to increase agricultural and timber products, which has economic value. Farmers generally pay more attention to economic factors than to maintaining agricultural land and forests. The level of crop productivity and the income scale of agroforestry farmers are affected by the area of agroforestry land, so it needs to be maintained. This study aims to determine the pattern of agroforestry planting and community income from the Community Forest Management (PHBM) program with an agroforestry system in Sumberejo Village BKPH Nglawungan KPH Blora Perum Perhutani Regional Division I Central Java. The method used was purposive sampling with a survey approach. The sample was selected from 6 KTH, where each is 5-7 representative respondents with criteria of the land area of 0.25-0.1, active members of LMDH for at least one year, and farming for at least two years as well as heads of families who were sampled in this study. The research analysis uses the Pd = TR – TC formula, and the data analysis uses descriptive analysis based on tabulations. The results showed that the community participating in PHBM in Sumberejo Village was dominated by those aged more than 30 years, with an elementary school (SD) graduate education level and livelihood as agricultural workers. Application of the pattern with an agroforestry system is with a row pattern (alternate rows). The agroforestry component is agrisilviculture, with an average farmer income of IDR 24,691,320 in a year.
