Abstract

The quality of nutmeg oil is determined by the quality of nutmeg and the use of the refining process technology used. Drying techniques for raw materials and distillation processes which include boiler materials, cooling systems, and boiler designs for distillation affect the yield and quality of the essential oils produced. This steam kettle has been made from Stainless steel A304 with a diameter of 40 cm, height 70 cm and plate thickness of 3 mm. The boiler is also equipped with a manometer and thermometer to control the pressure and temperature in the boiler. Excess pressure is controlled by a pressure safety valve. The boiler was designed with a pressure capacity of 3 bars. The time needed to reach a pressure of 3 bars is 30 to 40 minutes with fuel consumption of 2 sticks of wood. Manufacture of mini nutmeg oil refiner with water tube system capacity of 35 to 50 kg. The time needed for the heating process reaches a pressure of 3 bars between 10-15 minutes and a constant temperature, far more effective when compared to conventional systems. The results of laboratory tests state that nutmeg oil distilled using a water tube steam boiler meets Indonesian National Standards.

Abstract

One of the functions of the forest is natural disaster such as flood control and the landslide that is how these forests absorb water into the root of the tree. Most forests in North Aceh Regency is protected forest which has undergone deforestation due to the presence of illegal logging and opening of new land like planting oil palm that impact against water infiltration. This research was conducted to identify deforestation forests in 2000, 2003 and 2015 using the techniques of remote sensing by satellite images landsat landsat 7 and 8. The method used was algorithm NDVI to get the classification of forest distribution and the level of deforestation forests based on the density of the vegetation from the Forestry Department 2003. Analysis of the rate of deforestation and loss of vast forests is done by leveraging the value of NDVI and other supporting data.The results showed that the NDVI value for forest distribution based on vegetation density in 2000 was -0,620438 – 0,628743, in 2003 between -0,364238 – 0,530055 and in 2015 between -0,274592 – 0,642049. The rate of deforestation in the district of North Aceh based on the value of the vegetation index (NDVI) yields 3 classes of deforestation are severe deforestation, light deforestation and not deforested, in 2000 there was deforestation of 25,62%, in 2003 it was 99,91% and in 2015 amounted to 15,89%, most deforestation occurs in production forests.

Abstract

Forest fires in Sumatra lead to a very extreme climate changes around the earth, so there would still be a difficult job for atmosphere researchers. This research was conducted to know the weather conditions by determining the condition of Water Vapor (WV) on the island of Sumatra. Monitoring the condition of WV can be done by using remote sensing techniques, by processing the image satellite data namely Terra Modis (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer). Data calculation condition WV, as one of the parameters of dynamic atmosphere. The data comes from Terra Modis satellite image, the data on Canal 2, 5, 17, 18 and 19 with a wavelength range; 0,865μm, 1.24 μm, 0.905 μm, 0.936 μm and 0,940 μm. From these results obtained from the average value of Water Vapor before and after fires in 2012. Water Vapor taken from TERRA MODIS satellite imagery (y) with a correction factor of 0.9865. Although the correlation (r) between Water Vapor from MODIS data is high, it can be seen that between Water Vapor in 2012 ranged between 3-8 cm. 82%, however only about 68% of Water Vapor MODIS diversity that can be presented by the equation model to approach the actual value of Water Vapor. With these data will greatly affect the weather cycle in Indonesia.

Abstract

The eruption of Mount Sinabung in 2010 caused bursts of volcanic ash particles into the atmosphere layer to impact the weather. This is because volcanic ash is hydrocopic which can cause condensation process and block the process of solar radiation earth surface. Precivitable Water vapor (PWV) as one of the parameters of the atmosphere that can be used as information to determine the weather conditions in an area. Utilization of data Sumatran GPS Array (SUGAR) and data satellite Terra sensors MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spektroradiometer) can be used to find out PWV through GPS inversion method by utilizing estimated estimation of slowing and rotating GPS signals overlaid with troposphere. While the transmittance method is performed by comparing the surface reflectance between the channel absorption and the channel non absorption contained in the sensor MODIS. The results showed that spatial variation of PWV distribution pattern showed wetness pattern during eruption. This was indicated by some areas that have PWV distribution pattern almost in each region and PWV verification result from GPS showed ± 47.65 mm-66.81 mm, while PWV value from MODIS ranges from ± 13.02 mm - 80.05 mm. Based on the results of PWV-GPS correlation test from June to October of 2010 has a correlation coefficient of 0.0173 to PWV from MODIS and explains the positive relationship between PWV of GPS with PWV value from MODIS, but correlation value of the variable variables including low category because of location points Station SUGAR are spread unevenly and are more likely to spread along the western coast of Sumatra, which borders the Indian Ocean.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memperoleh nilai tegangan, regangan dan modulus elastisitas dari spesimen komposit serbuk kasar kenaf dengan komposisi 90% Resin – 10% Serbuk, 80% Resin – 20% Serbuk dan 70% Resin – 30% Serbuk. Adapun nilai yang di dapat dari hasil pengujian tarik dari spesimen uji ini adalah untuk serbuk kasar 24,151 MPa, , regangan rata-rata serbuk kasar 2,533 MPa, modulus elastisitas sebesar 970,53MPa terhadap kekuatan uji tarik. Metode penelitian ini dilakukan di Laboratorium IFRC (Impact and Facture Research Center) Departemen Teknik Mesin Universitas Sumatera Utara. Komposit dibuat dengan menggunakan resin sebagai pengikat matriknya dan kenaf sebagai penguatnya. Variasi bahan adalah serbuk halus dan kasar 10%, 20% dan 30% resin 90%, 80% dan 70%. Spesimen di buat dengan metode paling sederhana (hand lay up). Selanjutnya komposit dibiarkan selama kurang lebih 24 jam agar hasilnya sesuai dengan yang di inginkan. Kemudian dilakukan proses pengujian tarik. Penelitiannya adalah spesimen yang telah diberi berbeda variasi diuji dengan mesin Uji Tarik. Hasil pengujian didapat kurva beban pertambahan panjang. Kemudian diperoleh hasil pada grafik untuk setiap spesimen.Luasan area ini adalah perbandingan dari tiap spesimen. Kemudian memperoleh hasil dengan luas area patah pada spesimen.

Abstract

The purpose of the research was to characterize diamond-film coating which is used as carbide tool coating material, especially coating material (diamond-film CVD) and substrate material (WC/Co) in general approach interaction of chemically, This is related to the research which reported about the functional failure of carbide tool coating material, used in dry machinery process of non-ferro metal in the initial wear. The study on the characteristics of tool diamond-film coating was conducted through chemical interaction approaches which occurred between the working object and tool through dry machining process. Cutting condition was v= 350 m/min; f= 0.15 mm/put; a= 1.5 mm in Initial-wear phase (tc= 1.736 min). The result of the test was abrasive wear VB = 0.070 mm. Chemical load was tested through micro analysis using energy dispersive analysis X-Ray spectroscopy (EDAX), the result of the test was the distribution of diamond-film coating elements in aluminum 6061 testing material on the cutting conditions indicated that diamond-film coating material was still significant. The conclusion of the study was that by using chemical interaction approaches, was no coating delamination in diamond-film coating of carbide tool. The phenomenon of the three approaches was the gradual disappearing of a part of the volume of diamond-film coating material which layered substrate material as the result of abrasive-coating wear.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui perilaku akustik dari panel akustik yang terbuat dari serat aren dan lateks. Sampel dibuat dengan mencampur serat aren dan latex dengan rasio persentase berat sebesar 90/10, 85/15, 80/20, 75/25 dan 70/30. Pengujian karakteristik akustik dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode Tabung Impedansi. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa panel akustik yang terbuat dari serat aren yang dan Latex memiliki karakteristik sebagai bahan penyerap bunyi. Penyerapan bunyi terbaik ditunjukkan pada sampel dengan komposisi 90/10, dengan koefisien serap sebesar 0.95 pada frekuensi 3000 Hz.
