Abstract

Kualitas minyak pala ditentukan oleh kualitas pala dan penggunaan teknologi proses pemurnian yang digunakan. Teknik pengeringan untuk bahan baku dan proses penyulingan yang meliputi bahan ketel, sistem pendingin, dan desain ketel untuk penyulingan mempengaruhi hasil dan kualitas minyak atsiri yang dihasilkan. Boiler terbuat dari Stainless steel 304 dengan diameter 70 cm, panjang 120 cm, dan tebal pelat 3 mm. Boiler juga dilengkapi dengan system water tube untuk mempercepat pemanasan air. Tekanan berlebih dikendalikan oleh katup pengaman tekanan karena boiler ini dirancang dengan kapasitas tekanan 3 bar. Ketel terbuat dari Stainless steel 304 yang dilengkapi dengan keranjang bertingkat untuk memkasimalkan sirkulasi dan tekanan uap dalam ketel. Pipa kondensor yang berada dalam air pendingin menggunakan pipa aluminum untuk memaksimalkan proses kondensasi. Selama proses pemanasan air di dalam water tube terus terjadi peningkatan temperatur hingga 80 oC pada menit ke 90. Temperatur air yang dipompakan ke dalam boiler sudah mencapai 73 oC yang bersumber dari kondensor. Sejalan dengan peningkatan temperatur air di dalam kondensor, hal ini mengakibatkan kestabilan temperatur pada saat penambahan air dalam boiler. Rata-rata penurunan temperatur hanya 2,7 oC. Penggunaan air panas dari kondensor dapat meningkatkan efektifitas boiler untuk menghasilkan uap yang ditransfer ke ketel. Hal ini menyebabkan temperatur di ketel langsung stabil pada menit ke 90 dengan rata-rata temperatur sebesar 110 oC. Tempertur air yang dihasilkan oleh kondensor bertahan pada 84-85 oC. Kondisi ini diakibatkan oleh penambahan air ke dalam kondensor yang dilakukan setelah air dalam kondensor tersebut dipompa ke boiler. Tempertur air dalam kondensor ini selain dapat meningkatkan efektifitas boiler dan ketel tetap juga dapt menurunkan kemampuan pipa kondensor untuk merubah fase uap ke cair. Penggunaan cooling tower sangat dibutuhkan untuk dapat menstabilkan temperatur air dalam kondensor maksimal hingga 60-65 oC. Perbedaan tempertur boiler, ketel dan kondensor dimana temperatur air dalam kondensor masih terlalu tinggi (85 oC). Hal ini perlu treatment khusus untuk menjaga temperatur kondensor pada temperatur rendah agar proses perubahan fase uap ke cair dapat berlangsung secara optimal.

Abstract

Rice harvesting machines that can be operated in swampy, peatland, narrow and can be operated and maintained by farmers, can be considered for design, some previous research has been carried out, including a two-lane mini rice harvester with a performance of 20.33 hours per hectare and has been in manufacturing and in performance tests. Experimental studies on engine performance were carried out in this research. This research uses 2x50 watt peak polycrystalline solar panels connected to a 12 volt 45 AH battery, the battery will drive a 50 watt electric motor. Current and voltage measurements are carried out on the solar panel and battery when in condition, first the solar panel is connected to the battery and not connected to the electric motor, the second solar panel is connected to the battery and connected to the electric motor, the three solar panels are not connected to the battery and the battery is connected to electric motor. The results of the first condition study indicate that the electric current will be more stable using a new battery, when compared to using a battery in the previous study. The second condition was that the performance of the two-lane mini rice harvester increased by 50% when compared to the performance of an electric motor using a battery that was not connected to a solar panel. The third condition shows the performance of the electric motor has increased by up to 300% when compared with the results of previous studies, it is estimated that the electric motor will continue to rotate for up to 8-10 hours

Abstract

This paper provides survey results of an electricity system that has been carried out from isolated village of Alue Keujrun, South Aceh, Indonesia. The village has a central photovoltaic power plant and a micro hydro power plant. Various problems in the field such as operation errors, lack of maintenance of the electric power system, low voltage and frequency have been found. Power plant operators have also never received any formal training from any institution. The village is located next to the Kluet river which has a very large potential to become a hydrokinetic power plant energy source. Therefore the Kluet river flow velocity was also measured during the survey and described within this paper. Based on the interviews results with local operators, the village power plant does not have an operating permit. Thus, we consider that it is important to review the types of permits required to establish a power plant in Indonesia, including small-scale power plants.

Abstract

The design of a two-row rice harvest machine that has a weight of 65.26 kg has been designed and has worked well with a harvest speed of 20.33 hours per hectare, but the optimization of battery power to drive an electric motor needs to be studied, because the time needed to charge a battery 12 volts 45 AH to the full using a 50 watt peak solar panel is 10.8 hours considered not yet effective, so in this study optimization was carried out using two solar panel units in a horizontal position and arranged in parallel on the mini rice harvesting machine. Measurement of the output current and voltage when connected and not connected to the battery will be measured to determine the electric current received by the battery from the solar panel. The results show that the measurement data that have been made are relatively fluctuating due to weather conditions, but in general it can be concluded that the average voltage of solar panels will rise to 80% if arranged in parallel using two solar panel units and if a series of two solar panels is connected to the battery, the voltage will drop by 25%. For the condition of electric current data using one solar panel will produce an average electric current of 18 mA and if using a series of two electric panels will rise an average of 3.8 times in conditions not connected to the battery. And if it is connected to a battery using two solar panels then the electric current will drop an average of 2.8 times Keywords— voltage, current, solar panel, harvesting machine

Abstract

The quality of nutmeg oil is determined by the quality of nutmeg and the use of the refining process technology used. Drying techniques for raw materials and distillation processes which include boiler materials, cooling systems, and boiler designs for distillation affect the yield and quality of the essential oils produced. This steam kettle has been made from Stainless steel A304 with a diameter of 40 cm, height 70 cm and plate thickness of 3 mm. The boiler is also equipped with a manometer and thermometer to control the pressure and temperature in the boiler. Excess pressure is controlled by a pressure safety valve. The boiler was designed with a pressure capacity of 3 bars. The time needed to reach a pressure of 3 bars is 30 to 40 minutes with fuel consumption of 2 sticks of wood. Manufacture of mini nutmeg oil refiner with water tube system capacity of 35 to 50 kg. The time needed for the heating process reaches a pressure of 3 bars between 10-15 minutes and a constant temperature, far more effective when compared to conventional systems. The results of laboratory tests state that nutmeg oil distilled using a water tube steam boiler meets Indonesian National Standards.

Abstract

Marble, one of natural stone, has been widely produced since the last decade. In South Aceh, Marble stone is fabricated at Marble Production Unit that is located around Polytechnic of Aceh Selatan. The using of large-scale stone-cutting machines in Marble Production process tends to be a major noise source in Polytechnic of Aceh Selatan environment. The aim of this study is to analyze the noise level generated by Marble Cutting Machine in Marble Production Unit. The noise levels were analyzed by measuring Background Noise Level (BNL) and Sound Pressure Level (SPL). Sound Level Meter Type SL-814 was employed in the measurement. The results show that Background Noise Level measured is 53.03 dB on average. The highest Sound Pressure Level measured when the marble cutting machine was operated without workpiece is 94dB. In addition, the highest sound pressure level measured when marble cutting machine was operated with the workpiece is 96 dB. The values have generally exceeded the Threshold Noise Level allowed for education area, 55 dB. The noisy condition in campus environment would have an impact on teaching and learning processes within the Polytechnic of South Aceh.

Abstract

Marble is a natural rock product that is widely used in daily life. There is a lot of marble powder as a by-product during the production process. This powder can be converted into valuable items. To transform this by-product to be economically valuable items, there is a way to propagate composite products from marble powder and resin. There are four composite mixing ratios carried out in this research, namely 50/50%, 40/60%, 30/70%, and 20/80%. The mixing composites test shows bending strength and elasticity of the composite material.

Abstract

Sitting is one of the rest activities carried out by humans to restore energy when tired of doing activities and a bench is an infrastructure that humans use to sit when they unwind. The most important factor for bench design is a convenience for its users. While the table is an infrastructure that is used by humans to carry out writing, eating and so on. Combining bench and table concepts into one, it is very necessary to summarize the place according to its function. The literature study on this design gave rise to a new design in which a multifunctional bench is not only useful for sitting but also functions to carry out activities that require a desk.

Abstract

An installation drawing is an image that plays a very vital and decisive role in an electrical installation design, because only with the help of a drawing an electrical installation project can be carried out. So to increase students' knowledge and skills about electrical systems, it is necessary to develop an electric power system installation kit. Electric power system installation kits are a device in the form of an electric circuit that produces an electric current, it can be a lamp or a source of electrical energy from generators and electric machines. The purpose of this research is to design drawings and fabrications of tables and sketches of panel kits for 1 ɸ and 3 electric power system installation kits that can be used as physics practicum equipment and electrical machine installations at the Power Electronics Laboratory of the Mechanical Engineering Study Program of the South Aceh Polytechnic. The method used in the design of the electric power system installation kit is to collect design and fabrication data in accordance with the literature study on electricity based on the requirements and regulations of PUIL 2000, measure and calculate dimensions of the seat table and sketch diagram of electrical installation kits, do a drawing design as well as table fabrication and installation panel kits diagrams, determining the specifications of the tools and materials for the electric power system installation panel kits. From the results of the drawing and fabrication design, the dimensions for the installation kits table have a length of 1.50 m, a width of 1.30 m and a height of 0.90 m so that the volume of the table is 175.5 m3, and for the dimensions of the panel kits for the electric power system installation kits has a length of 1.40 m and a width. 1.20 m.
