Abstract

This study aims to determine the increase in mathematics learning outcomes using the project based learning model. This type of research is Classroom Action Research. The research model used is project based learning. The PTK model used was the C. Kemmis & Mc Taggart spiral model which was carried out in 2 cycles. Data collection techniques are test techniques and non-test techniques. The research instrument uses item questions and observation sheets. The subjects in this study were students of class IVD, totaling 29 students. The data analysis technique is descriptive qualitative and quantitative with the mean and completeness of the results of learning mathematics. The results showed that the students' mathematics learning outcomes in the pre-cycle, the average learning result was 40.7, included in the very poor category and the percentage of learning completeness was 6.8%. In cycle I, the average student learning outcomes were 74.3, including the sufficient category and the percentage of learning completeness increased by 55.1%. Cycle I did not meet the research criteria and improvements were made. Researchers reflect and further emphasize the explanation of the project-based learning process to students. In cycle II, the average learning result was 93.1, included in the very good category and the percentage of learning completeness was 94.3% and met the research success criteria. This increase was because the researchers emphasized the steps in making the project and there was a division of tasks in groups. Thus, the application of the project based learning model can improve the mathematics learning outcomes of IVD class students. Keywords: Learning outcomes, mathematics, project-based learning models.
