Abstract

Philosophers from different epochs; from Socrates to Buddha, all were more than willing to advise others on how to live a happy life. The desires that people do not necessarily require to become happy or maintain the state of happiness for considerable period are myriad. The reason for this can be seen in Aristotle’s view that the goal of the human action and thought is to be happy. Humans engage in a range of activities that make them feel happy and try to shun those that neither bring happiness nor make them feel appreciated. The thrust of this paper is to see if there are limitations to happiness? And what connection does religion has with the concept of happiness.

Abstract

Direct Election System in Makassar City in Islamic Law Perspective, this is located in Makassar City, South Sulawesi Province. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. While the approach used in this study is a formal juridical approach. The results of the study indicate that the mechanism of direct elections in Makassar City in accordance with the 1945 Constitution, Article 18 paragraph (4) affirms: "Governors, Regents, and Mayors respectively as Heads of Provincial, Regency, and City Governments are democratically elected". It's just that there are still those that are not in line with the provisions of Islamic law and law, for example being elected as Regional Head because of nepotism, using the power of money or called money politics. Regional Head in Makassar City, it can be said that he is competent. However, when viewed from the post-conflict local election law, it turns out that there is one important requirement that is omitted, namely about public testing, so that it is not chosen from its capacity, but is chosen more in terms of the strength of political parties and in terms of the strength of the funds. The character of the voters is also diverse and generally, there are still some whose voting rights can be bought with money.

Abstract

This paper examines and describes, from the perspective of religion comparative studies, the relation and interrelation of the two major world religions, Islam and Judaism, which have not found a solid foundation for establishing a peaceful and inclusive world religious civilization system since thousands of years ago to this present. This study was library research with a theological-historical approach which focused on the description of the intersection, historical relation and theological issues of the two religions which had an impact on the political tensions between both religions. The researcher found that Islam and Judaism basically meet in two aspects, that is, historically, the blood relationship of the Prophets that stem from the hanif Ibrahimic faith. Theologically, both religions are the divine religions that base their religious teachings on the Book of Allah and have the same principles of the doctrine of tawhid, that is faith in God Almighty, the Day of the Hereafter and the Day of Judgment (al mu'ad). The inharmonious relationship between Islam and Judaism throughout history to the present day is in essence caused by the political issues that adopt theological interpretations aiming to sharpen the thorns of religious discordance.

Abstract

Rules regarding the transfer of property of a deceased person (heir) to his surviving heirs are sub-systems of Islamic inheritance law. Islam as universal teaching teachers and regulates all aspects of human life with the aim that humans get the benefit of life both in the world and in the hereafter. Therefore Allah's rules can be understood and practiced based on their intellectual aspects and can also be understood and practiced based on their contextual aspects, in order to create a human society in general and family in particular. So that is why the Muslim community of the city of Makassar is more inclined to carry out the distribution of inheritance based on an agreement by way of deliberation. Such resolution efforts are called resolutions through non-litigation channels, while efforts to distribute inheritance through court decisions are called settlement through litigation.
