Abstract

Language birth is a kind of event where a language appear and used by the community. Language birth through long process. Language birth can be formed by mixing of two or more languages. The formation of a new language is usually the result of a mixture of vocabulary. The mixing of the vocabulary will be mastered by one of the languages called the matrix language. The matrix language has a strong position in the new language because the matrix language controls the development of the new language. Merging two or more languages takes considerable time until the language becomes a new permanent language like Tiong Pa language in Padang, West Sumatera, Indonesia.

Abstract

Compound Words is a part of elements that finding in morphology. Morphology is learning about morpheme and morpheme is the element of language that have meaning and also support the meaning. The morphology will involve two element, they are free element and not free element. The problem in this research is analyzing compound words that find in Jakarta Post. Compound words that describe in this research is closed compound words. This research is kind of linguistic. This research also use descriptive qualitative method. The method of this research is the method that describe the word, sentences and paragraph which take from the source data with describe the meaning of the data. Beside that, this research also use library research. The library research just talk about the data that already prepare by the analyze data that have been get from the source data by using basic theories that support this research. In this research, the researcher take the source data from one edition of Jakarta Post Newspaper. All of data that needed come from that source. The first step that use by the researcher is collecting the basic data which take from the source data. After that the basic data will be collecting, so the researcher will be grouping the data based on the type. Based on the limitation problem of this research just analyze four problems, so analyzing the data just describe four problems. The first problem is the form of compound words are combining that find in Jakarta Post Newspaper. The second problem is what is the meaning of compound word before and after combination. The third is the syntactic function of compound words that has been combined. And the last is the rule that have in compound words. Based on the research, the researcher find the unique of the word that appear from the compound words. among if one word combine with another word so the word have a different meaning. There are some meaning still follow the basic meaning and also there are some meaning make a new meaning and doesn’t describe the two words. the unique take from the form data, the function and also the rule that have in the words. Based on this research, the researcher understand about the compound words.

Abstract

The problem in this thesis is the life of a knight who has to choose between duty and love. Dif analysis on the main task because on one side must perform his duties as a knight, and on the other side must follow his conscience to get his love. The problem of duty and love does not fit in the story. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the duties and responsibilities of the knight in performing his duty to the country where the knight is also confronted with his feelings and love, be a confrontation between the duty and responsibility to the knight. In this writing, literature research is taken as a method of data. As for the method of data analysis, the authors perform comparative procedures with the understanding of novels, figures, and also psychiatric theory. Technical techniques data data research results relevant to the research. In data analysis techniques, the author uses the technique of genetic structuralism by analyzing the knight in the Ivanhoe novel through psychic theory, the writer must see the confrontation that the knight must enter in choosing a task or love. The findings in this thesis are: 1) the knight prefers the task to fullness and prefers love in the end, 2) at the beginning of the story, the knight prefers to give priority to his duty to the king so that he is carried away Rowena, his beloved girl 3) At the end of the story, the knight returns to give priority to his love for Rowena.

Abstract

Slavery to Social life's Racialism analyzes the disclosure of a black-life tragedy of slavery and racism in their social life. The author takes data from Dunbar's poems: We Wear the Mask, The Debt, Sympathy, Life's Tragedy and The Paradox. In these five poems the author analyzes how slavery that has taken place in America on the basis of the five poems of Dunbar, some kind of racism that the author finds in the five poems of Dunbar, and the result of social slavery to the black social life in America that the author finds in The five poems of Dunbar. This research method is descriptive qualitative, which try to explain about correlation between writer life background which pour through poetry and its influence to human social life. In analyzing the five poems of Dunbar, the author uses a psychological approach that discusses the psychology of human personality which is the theory of Sigmund Freud including the id, ego, and the human superego. The main source of data obtained from the five poems Dunbar namely: We Wear the Mask, The Debt, Sympathy, Life's Tragedy and The Paradox. Other sources come from articles and internet books. From the analysis of the five poems of Dunbar, the authors found that (1) Slavery and human rights abuses against blacks in America are reflected through the five poems of Dunbar. (2) The author finds some form of racism such as the occurrence of discrimination and persecution that caused the suffering of blacks in America on the basis of the fifth poems of Dunbar and (3) There have been proven consequences of the slavery experienced by blacks in America that the author has discovered from the fifth Dunbar's poetry is like feeling oppressed or experiencing the mental stress that causes blacks in America to suffer.

Abstract

This thesis discusses the issue of racial prejudice in America described in the novel The Color of Water written by James Mcbride. This analysis focuses on how blacks are perceived differently by other races in America such as whites. In this study, the authors analyzed three problems, the first why race prejudice occurred in America. How racial prejudices against blacks as uneducated people, how racial prejudice against blacks as criminal. In analyzing the literary work, the author uses postcolonial theory, it is this theory that allows us to see how the colonial influence both during colonization lasted, before, and after the colonialization ended like today. This theory has a very important meaning, The hidden problems contained behind the facts that have occurred, and very in accordance with the problems contained in the novel the color of water. In this study, the authors found a 1). bad relationship between the minority and the majority in the United States really happened. 2). Minorities such as blacks get white prejudices. This disharmony of relationships has some impact on the minority itself, the impact of which can be seen from how the quality of life of these minorities. 3). Another consequence of the harmony of the relationship is the emergence of awareness and motivation in the minority to be equal to the majority.

Abstract

Problems in this thesis is about women, because of discrimination against women, there were resistance can be seen from the main character in the play A Doll's House and his struggle to obtain equality between women and men. Because women do not have to live forever under the pressure of men and not women may not work forever and forever no woman should take care of the children and her husband, like the main character Nora who willingly broke the law for the sake of getting the equality between men and women. This research method is a method of data collection, data analysis methods while the author does a systematic procedure with an understanding of the drama. Engineering data collection using the technique of qualitativ in finding relevant data with subject and author data analysis techniques using structural engineering by way of analyzing the drama based on the elements that shape it. In analyzing this drama author using psychology approach discusses the human personality which is the theory of Sigmund Freud includes the id, ego, superego man. Research results from the play A Doll House, the authors have found that the presence of the Suppression of freedom 1) inside the Doll House, 2) the existence of discrimination on the main character Nora in a doll's House, 3) as well as the struggle to be free from discrimination that had befallen him.

Abstract

The problem in this thesis is feminism in education, occupation and social as seen in Maya Angelou’s poems. Feminism is the struggle of movement women rights in economic, education, occupation, politic, social and different culture with men. In these poems, having the theme like struggle rights of women, women rights in self-confidence, hidden beauty, although the skills of her own feels more superior than men The finding in this analysis is 1). Angelou wants to voice the women must be more educated that can stand in patriarchal society, in basically women must get the rights equality in education like men. 2). Angelou wants to voice the women must get rights equality in occupation, like equality wages between men and women. 3). Angelou wants to voice nobody can do insult in physical or non-physical. In basically, degree of human its same front of Allah and society.

The Bear is a literary work written by anton chekov in 1880 which tells of the story of a widow who dissolves in sorrow after being dying by a beloved husband who then personality or his formerly gentle, polite nature turned into a rough and grumpy as being carried away with a collector Harsh debt but turned into a romantic and gentle. Changes in attitudes that occur to the store antagonist and protagonist caused by loneliness and needs that harbor the sense of mutual need that in the end both are equally in love.

Abstract

There is always discrimination against women in any field, as experienced by the main character Elizabeth Bennet in the novel Pride and Prejudice. Because women can not accept the inheritance from their fathers, therefore women are required to marry rich men to improve social class and economic life. Discrimination of women in the inheritance of wealth makes women have to struggle in finding rich men to marry. In the data analysis method the author performs a systematic procedure with a novel understanding, the main character of Elizabeth Bennet and also feminist theory, the technique used in this research is a structural technique by analyzing novels based on the elements that make up. The results of this study found that: 1) the discrimination of women in the inheritance of his father's estate, 2) the main character of Elizabeth Bennett describes the strength of women, because of his firm and wise in facing all problems in his life, 3) the women's struggle was carried out by Elizabeth Bennet in Find his true love and marry on the basis of love until it ends happily, but so many obstacles he faces both from the outside and from himself.

Abstract

The title of this thesis is an analysis of the ambitions and dreams of Americans in the 1920s, focusing on the analysis of a leading figure from the circle An ordinary person named Willy Loman who turned his career into a businessman (Salesman), but eventually found failure and experienced severe frustration and eventually committed suicide by crashing the car fence home. Problems in this thesis is a problem associated with characterizations such as Willy Loman has an inner conflict between his two children Biff and Happy. In this thesis, the author uses a psychological approach. This approach saw the development of characters in literary works that are a reflection of the true human psyche. This approach also explains the character changes in the main characters. The purpose of this study is for the reader to know the ambitions and dreams of what is in the drama of the death of Salesman, and the results obtained from this analysis is that material satisfaction greatly affects the lives of Americans especially Willy loman, the main character in this drama he Very ambitious to achieve material satisfaction such as home, money, success, wealth, honor, equality of rights so that people around him will put respect and sympathy.
