Abstract

This study aims to develop teaching materials using mind mapping method oriented to literary and character education in a valid, practical, and effective Literature History course. There are three aspects that used to measure the instructional material developed, namely: 1) the content of teaching materials validity will be assessed by experts that adjusted to the supporting theory while construct validity is assessed by experts by paying attention to the relevance and suitability of the developed teaching materials; 2) practicality of the developed teaching material is measured by its implementation in lectures in class by using the instrument of questionnaire responses of students and lecturers; 3) effectiveness of instructional materials was measured using multiple choice tests. The development of this teaching material follows the procedure for product development from Plomp, namely: 1) initial investigation, 2) design, 3) realization/ construction, 4) test, evaluation, and revision; and 5) implementation. Given the time constraints, this study did not arrive at the implementation stage but only arrived at limited trials. From the results of the study, the instructional material developed has met the criteria of valid, practical, and effective. Whereas from the results of limited trials, the instructional material developed effectively increases the understanding of Literature History in PBSI semester I students in the academic year 2018-2019. This is evident by increasing of the percentage of students getting B +, A-, that is 62% in the first cycle become 80% in second cycle. It is already above the percentage that have been achieved and even exceeding the target, that is 70% of students get B +, A-, and A in the beginning of study.

Abstract

Home background and locality are two significant factors that affect the academic performance of students in agriculture. The home determines the comfort of the students for academic activities while locality provides a conducive environment for students to study. The study was aimed at determining the impact of home background and locality on the secondary school students’ academic performance in agriculture. Survey research design was adopted. The study population was 14,750 where 1,616 respondents were selected. The sample size was made up of 624 teachers of agriculture and 992 students of agriculture from 291 secondary schools in the 17 local government areas of Enugu state, Nigeria. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data. Data collected were subjected to mean and t-test statistic to answer research questions and test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Results show that there was the statistically significant difference in the impact of home background on the students’ academic performance in agriculture. It provides the parents with insights on the needs to make the homes conducive for learning and provide the necessary environment that would promote their children’s academic performance in agriculture.

Abstract

The objective in this research is to analyze inferential comparative advantages between the use of multimedia and print media to improve student soft skills. The study uses a quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design. The population was students of S1 Accounting Study Program in their second semester who were taking Introductory Accounting courses 2. Sampling was done by simple random sampling. The data collected through observation methods and assignment values. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistical techniques and inferential statistics uses analysis of covariant (ancova) with pretest score as covariables. The results showed, the average of soft skills the experimental group is 24.49, higher than the control group. The results of the ancova test produce a statistical value of F of 5,400 with a significance of 0.023. This shows that after being controlled by the pretest covariables, there are significant differences in soft skills between the experimental groups that conduct learning with multimedia compared to the control group that conducts learning with conventional media (print media). Students who are given learning using multimedia have better soft skills than students who are taught using print media. The amount of adjusted R square value of 0.470 means that the variability of soft skills can be explained by the variability of learning media (multimedia) as much as 47.0%.

Abstract

This research aims to improve student’s mathematics learning outcomes and their self-confidence using the Hypnoteaching method on the learning of Algebra for class VIII A of Islam Sultan Fattah Salatiga Junior High School. This research is included as classroom action research. The model used in this research is the Kemmis & Mc Taggart’s which consists of 4 stages namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The improvement of student’s learning outcomes and self-confidence in learning mathematics are seen from their grades and self-confidence questionnaire scores. On one hand, 1st cycle of questionnaire results show that student’s had experienced improvement in self-confidence by 58% with the average of student’s learning outcomes by 58.4% and 42% completeness. On the other hand, the 2nd cycle of questionnaire results show that students had experienced improvement in self-confidence by 79% with the average of student’s learning outcomes by 76.9% and 79% completeness

Abstract

The main purpose of this research was to result Interactive Instructional Media Oriented to Creative Problem Solving Model. The method of this research used research and development method by 4-D of development model those were consisted by Define Stage, Design Stage, Develop Stage and Disseminate Stage. However, this research was limited to Develop. The research subjects on individual limited test were as much 2 students, on field trials were as much 20 students. Instrument those were used to get the data in this research were questionnaire and documentation. Technical that was used to analyse the data was percentage descriptive counting. The result of this research showed that development of Interactive Instructional Media Oriented to Creative Problem Solving Model had gone well that was proved by means of learning result was 81.10 when the simulation of using interactive instructional media

Abstract

The research aimed to know the effectiveness of the use of “Mojigoigo!” flash-based learning media towards the results of the JLPT-Like of the second-semester students majoring in Japanese Language Education of Ganesha Education University. The method used in the study was the experimental research method with the Pre-Experimental Design and the form used was One Group Pretest – Posttest Design. The instruments used were pre-test and post-test in the form of multiple choice questions which the material was equivalent of JLPT (JLPT-Like). The data analysis employed the t-test analysis. On the results of t-test, it retrieved (the value of sig. =0.006<0.05), meaning that on the statistical hypothesis Ho is rejected and the Ha is accepted, stating that "there is a significant difference between the average value of the pre-test from the average value of the post-test". It shows that the use of “Mojigoigo!”flash-based learning media is proved to be effective in improving the results of the JLPT-Like of the second-semester students majoring in Japanese Language Education of Ganesha Education University.
