Abstract

Thematic learning emphasizes the application of the concept of learning by doing in the classroom and the application of the concept of learning by playing. The problems that occur are that the implementation of learning is still fixated on separate subjects that are not in accordance with the learning themes used, the learning process is teacher-centered, the unavailability of learning tools in accordance with thematic characteristics. This study aims to develop thematic learning teaching materials for PGSD study program students and test the effectiveness of their products. The model used is a research and development (R&D) model with a Dick & Carey design model. The research instruments used were questionnaires, tests, interviews, and documentation. The results of the research are in the form of teaching material products. The results of the validation of these teaching materials obtained scores from learning experts of 75%, material experts of 81.66%, and media experts of 76%. The teaching materials developed are very effective and feasible to use based on the results of the paired sample t test with the results of P < 0.000, df = 29, t = -51.470.

Abstract

Speaking is still often considered one of the most daunting skills for English language learners. For Asian learners, such as Indonesian, it is quite common for them to experience psychological-related challenges whenever they are presented with speaking tasks. The aims of this research aims to analyze the psychological challenges of students in vocational education at the higher education level. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Respondents in this study are 36 students. The data in this study were sourced from the experiences of the respondents which were recorded in their guided reflection and semi-structured interviews. The data from the reflection results were analyzed using three coding steps: open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. This study found that most participants reported negative feelings around speaking tasks, such as being nervous, afraid (of making mistakes), fear of failure, insecure, tense, anxious, and doubtful, faster heartbeats and trembling which mostly stemmed from afraid to failing to meet expectations, lack of preparation, and lack of adequate language competence. Suggestions for a better-speaking class are discussed.

Abstract

One form of development in the world of learning as a result of developments in information and communication technology (ICT) is that distance learning is possible. The Open University, a public university, uses various modes of learning has also experienced changes in the modes of learning for students who decide to study in person during class. Coupled with the Covid-19 pandemic, this change is a change in the learning system from the TTM mode which is replaced by Tuweb (blended learning that is held online). This study aims to analyze user or UT student satisfaction with the Tuweb system using the Servqual dimension. The data source came from the UT student population at UPBJJ UT Denpasar, where the determination of respondents was carried out using a purposive sampling technique. The Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI), Importance Performance Analysis (IPA), and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM) are the analytical techniques used. The results of the slices of the three methods (CSI, IPA and SEM-PLS) is that Tuweb UT's services get quite satisfied ratings from students, where the variable that gives excellence to Tuweb UT is empathy. As a note for improving the tuweb service from UT, the Tuweb service has the availability of a learning service response at any time and place (responsiveness variable) and the Tuweb service has better speed accuracy than the promised speed accuracy (reliability variable).

Abstract

Prospective mathematics teachers must have the characteristics of mathematical science, namely systematic, logical, and critical. This study aims to reveal the analysis of learning obstacles experienced by prospective mathematics teachers in number theory lectures with sub-material of division relations, FPB and KPK. This research uses a qualitative approach method in descriptive form. This research was conducted by collecting data through questionnaires and interviews and validated using the triangulation method. The study was limited to the analysis of ontogenic learning obstacles according to Brosseasu. The results of this study were that 4 out of 6 research subjects experienced the occurrence of ontogenic learning obstacles with details of 37.5% of prospective teacher students experiencing psychological ontogenic obstacles and instrumental ontogenic obstacles, then 25% experiencing didactic ontogenic obstacles. This indicates that students' readiness to take part in number theory courses is still weak. Students are weak in terms of psychological readiness, weak in readiness for complete mastery of related material previously studied and weak in terms of following the thought process needed in this course.

Abstract

Learners are less able to optimize the project-based learning model. Many students still have not been trained to think critically and creatively toward understanding mathematical concepts, and children are less able to cooperate. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of the Project Based Learning model. This research used quantitative methods with the type of pre-experiment and a one-group pretest-postest design. The population in this study was taken from class IV, which consisted of 3 classes. The research sample consisted of class IVC, as many as 33 people. Research data were collected through the test method. The data analysis technique in the study used descriptive analysis and prerequisite tests using SPSS release 24 for Windows, r_hitung more than 0.361, so the 10 test items were declared valid and suitable for researchers to use. Based on the alpha stability category, a score of 0.658 is included in the reliable category, so it can be concluded that the test questions submitted are reliable. In the Paired Sample, t-test results with a significant score of 0.000 less than 0.05 show a significant difference in applying the project-based learning model in improving the understanding of mathematical concepts of fourth-grade elementary school students. So, it can be concluded that the treatment of post-test results by applying the project-based learning model effectively improves the understanding of mathematical concepts of grade IV elementary school students.

Abstract

As one of the traditional ornaments of the Batak Toba tribe, "gorga" carries philosophical meaning and serves to embellish the decoration of traditional houses. The gorga motif has its own distinctive characteristics, with closely arranged patterns and symmetrical designs. This indicates the presence of mathematical aspects within these carved gorga patterns. This research aims to analyze the symmetries embedded in the gorga motifs that can be utilized as locally-based mathematics teaching material. The study is conducted by exploring various gorga motifs and analyzing their types of symmetry. The research is employing an ethnographic research approach. Data is collected through observing buildings adorned with gorga motifs, studying literature, and conducting interviews with gorga carvers. Qualitative data analysis can be started with data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions and verification. The research findings reveal the existence of seven types of symmetry obtained from all gorga motifs. These symmetry types include translation symmetry, glide reflect symmetry, vertical symmetry, rotation 180° symmetry, vertical and  rotation 180° symmetry, horizontal symmetry, and vertical and horizontal symmetry.

Abstract

The issue of traffic violations has been discussed by the general public for a long time. This shows a low level of discipline. This study aims to analyze the formation of disciplinary character and honesty related to the implementation of ETLE. This research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The subjects in this study were 2 high school Civics teachers, 2 counseling teacher, 1 high school student affairs teacher, 3 police officers, and 3 11th grade high school students. Data collection in this study was conducted by interview and documentation. Data validity checks were carried out using crosscheck techniques. While data analysis uses qualitative analysis techniques with stages: data collection, data reduction, data display and verification and confirmation of conclusions. This study resulted in the findings of the formation of Discipline Character in high school applying positive discipline because the teachers set a good example first and socialize what the benefits of school rules are. The method of forming honesty only relies on exams, reprimands and students who consult BK. Supervision related to this is also carried out when students are at school and wearing uniforms. If outside of that the school leaves it to the parents. The application of ETLE does not fully foster the character of discipline and honesty, especially in high school students. Because there are still those who violate invisible rules such as not having a SIM and ETLE can still be cheated by covering the vehicle license plate.
