Abstract

This study aims to produce duck feed with complete and economical nutrient content in terms of production performance parameters and Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC). The research was conducted by experimental method using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments, namely P0+: control treatment using 18% PK basal diet, P0¬˗: 16% PK basal feed treatment, P1: 16% PK Basal Feed with 10% amopheric bran. , P2: 16% PK basalt diet with 20% amopheric bran, P3: 16% PK basalt feed with 30% amofer bran. The research material used 60 DOD Cihateup Ducks. Each treatment was repeated 4 times and each experimental unit contained 3 ducks. The results of the study using step down protein feed with amofer rice bran substitution significantly decreased production performance at higher levels of amofer rice bran administration. As well as producing the best income over feed cost in the P0+ treatment, namely the control treatment using basal feed with 18% protein.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the addition of Stardec activator on the quality of the compost using palm fronds and cow feces as the basic ingredients. This research was carried out for ±1 month of composting in the laboratory for livestock and forage cultivation, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Jambi University and Soil Science Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, UNAND. This research was carried out using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 5 replications. The materials used were palm fronds 70% + sai feces 25% + urea 1% + bran 4%, with the use of stardek A0 0%, A1 0.5%, A2 1% and A3 1.5%. The observed variables were pH, and the elements contained therein (carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and the C/N ratio). from research that has been done shows pH (6-7). The results of statistical analysis showed that the addition of Stardec had a very significant effect (P<0.01) on carbon, phosphorus and potassium. No significant effect (P>0.05) on nitrogen and C/N ratio. Based on the results of the study, the best results were obtained from the content contained in the compost such as (C,N,P,K and C/N ratio) and pH, namely the addition of 1.5% Stardec.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the nutritional quality and digestibility value of dry matter and organic matter of local feed. The research was carried out at the Nutrition and Animal Feed Laboratory of the Kupang State Agricultural Polytechnic for 2 months. The variables observed were nutrient quality and dry matter and organic matter digestibility in vitro. The results of the analysis showed the average nutrient content of local feed ingredients, namely gamal leaf (BK 93.77%), putak flour (BO 90.33%), fish meal (PK 43.45%), fish meal (LK 4.61% ), rice bran (SK 29.84%), fish meal (KA 39.44%). Thehighest organic matter digestibility was in putak flour 66.47%, followed by fish meal 57.76%, gamal leaf 56.42%, corn husks 47.52%, and rice bran 40.78%. The conclusion of this study is that local feed ingredients for goats, namely rice bran, corn husks, fish meal, putak flour and gamal leaves can be recommended as animal feed.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain the best concentration of basil extract as an ingredient for making beef jerky by analyzing the water content, pH, antioxidant and organoleptic content of beef jerky. This study used a completely randomized design, namely soaking meat with different concentrations of basil. The use of basil has three levels of immersion concentration, namely P1 = 20%, P2 = 25%, P3 = 30%, P4 = 35%. The need for soaking meat with basil is 20 sample units. The variables measured were water content, pH, antioxidants, and organoleptic including color, taste, texture and preference. Parameter testing is first tested for normality by using the Shapiro-Wilk test. If the data distribution is normal, then the ANOVA is at the 5% level, if there is an effect, it is continued with the Duncan Multiple Region test. Antioxidants were tested descriptively and organoleptic properties (color, taste, texture and preference) were tested using the Kruskal-Walis Non Parametric test and continued, the Man Witney significant difference test. The results of this study indicate that different concentrations of basil can have a significant effect (P <0.05) on water content, pH and organoleptic. The higher concentration of basil extract can reduce the water content, normalize the pH value, improve organoleptic. Giving basil concentration 25% to 35% can increase antioxidant activity.

Abstract

One alternative agricultural waste that can be used for ruminant feed, especially in the dry season, is cassava waste with of silage. This study aims to determine the quality of the fiber fraction contained in the silage of cassava leaves with the addition of different levels of cassava flour and fermentation. This research used a factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with two treatment factors.  Factor A (added level of cassava waste consists 0%, 25% and 50%) and factor B (fermentation time consists 0, 14 and 28 days). The parameters measured were the composition of the fiber fraction including Neutral Detergent Fiber (%), Acid Detergent Fiber (%), Acid Detergent Lignin (%), hemicellulose and cellulose (%). The results of this study indicate that there is an interaction between the addition of cassava waste levels and different fermentation times on the content of the fiber fractions of NDF, ADF, ADL, Hemicellulose and Cellulose. It can be concluded that the addition of 25% cassava waste level and 28 days of fermentation time can improve the quality of  cassava silage fiber fraction

Abstract

Quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) is one of the poultry commodities that has a bright role and prospects for producing eggs. This study aims to examine the effect of supplementary feeding in the form of binahong leaf meal in feed on the growth performance of male quail. This research was conducted in January - February 2020 at the Gunung Gede Cage, the Vocational School of the Bogor Agricultural University, located in Gunung Gede, Bogor City, West Java. The materials used in this study were 100 male quail aged 10 days. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments in this study were R0 = 0% binahong leaf flour R1 = 0.5% binahong leaf flour, R2 = 1% binahong leaf flour, 1.5% binahong leaf flour. The data obtained were analyzed using Analysis of variance (ANOVA), if the data showed significantly different results (P <0.05) followed by the Duncan test. The variables observed in this study were feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion, and mortality. The results of this study indicated that giving binahong leaf meal in feed had a significant effect on feed consumption and had no significant effect on body weight gain, ration conversion and mortality on the growth period of quails. The conclusion of this research is that giving binahong leaf meal in feed up to a level of 1.5% has no effect on the performance of male quail.

Abstract

Ducks are a type of poultry that can be utilized and developed by the People of Indonesia. Feed is a supporting fakor in livestock growth. Gelugur acid plant (Garnicia atroviridis) has the content of active substances in the form of carbohydrates and proteins as well as organic acids such as tartaric acid, citric acid, and also malat acid. Research on the effect of gelugur acid leaf flour in non-conventional fermented rations on the performance of tegal ducks. The study was 24 years old and 2 weeks old. This study using Complete Random Design (RAL) consisted of 4 treatments and 3 replays, each unit consisting of 2 male tegal ducks. Research treatment using gelugur acid leaf flour with percentage R1=0% (Control), R2=2%, R3=4%, R4=6%. The results showed the best performance shown in R3 treatment (100% ration + 4% gelugur sour leaf flour) i.e. with a consumption value of 3945.73 gram/tail/week, UN at 479.16 gram/tail/week, ration conversion of 8.26 and duck mortality rate of 0% or absence of death during maintenance. The administration of acidic leaf flour as much as 4% is the best.
