Jurnal Desain Interior, Seni dan Budaya adalah jurnal yang mempublikasikan wacana dan hasil penelitian berterkiat dengan desain, desain interior dan diskursus desain interior terhadap kajian seni dan budaya. Pendhapa dalam susunan rumah tradisional Jawa merupakan ruang terbuka untuk menerima tamu, tempat pertemuan, tempat pertunjukan. Pendhapa memiliki fungsi yang cukup kompleks yakni fungsi sakral maupun profan, ritual sekaligus seremonial, publik sekaligus privat, meleburnya bagian luar dan bagian dalam interior-arsitektur bangunan, bertemunya tamu dan tuan rumah. Pendhapa sebagai paseban, merupakan medium bagi bertemu, bertukarnya ide, pemikiran, gagasan, informasi, strategi maupun formulasi menyangkut banyak hal untuk kemaslahatan. Selaras dengan fungsi pendhapa yang strategis hadir Pendhapa: Jurnal Desain Interior, Seni dan Budaya terbit berkala setahun dua kali pada bulan Juni dan Desember sebagai media penyaluran dan publikasi ide, gagasan, inovasi, hasil penelitian para ilmuwan desainer dan desainer ilmuwan.

Abstract

The aims of this research are to find out  the forms of change of codes in the forms and functions in SMS (Short Message Service) discourse.            The population of this research was all of the utterances discovered in SMS language discourse from 2004 up to 2008. The utterances in SMS discovered in some cellular phones Sony Ericcsson K700i, Nokia 3100, Nokia 6030, Nokia 7610, Nokia N 81, Samsung N 620, Samsung E110, Motorola C15, and Sony Ericsson K310i in Surakarta area were used as a sample of this research. The data was collected by observation method of listening and interview with some informants endorsed with a noting technique. The writer directly sent SMS to some participants to validate the data. The data is analyzed by using padan pragmatic method to identify the form and structure of the discourse and the factors influencing SMS language. Identity method  is used to identify and classify lexical and grammatical aspects found in this discourse endorsed with delection and substitution techniques.            The result of this research showed that SMS language was a written discourse in the form of a dialogue between a speaker and interlocutor making use of the facilities in cellular phones. The internal change of code covered : the change of code of Indonesia standard variant into Indonesia non-standard variant , the change of code of Indonesia non-standard variant into Indonesia standard variant. The external change of code covered :  the change of code of Indonesia language into Kromo (high level of Javanese language), the change of code of Indonesia language into Madya (mid level of Javanese language), the change of code of Ngoko (low level of Javanese language) into Indonesia language,  the change of code of Javanese language into English,  the change of code of Kromo (high level of Javanese language) into English,  the change of code of Ngoko (low level of Javanese language) into English,  the change of code of Indonesia language into English, the change of code of non-standard Indonesia language into English, the change of code of Indonesia language into English.

Abstract

Solo (Surakarta) is a cultural city showing a significant progress. Although its transmission process is completely influenced by a cultural border, which is considered by the people as a great matter, the acculturation process that influences a visual culture cannot be ignored. The significant progress can be observed from its physical structure of site plan and other factors. While the city visualization that shows a crowd of business and trade community as well as education reflects its rapid progress.  A variety number of cultural products inevitably support the city visualization, which attract its people’s consumptive behavior. The writer is interested in choosing the phenomenon of the presence of minimalist-style housing complex that is like an epidemic in this city, especially in Adisucipto region and other strategic regions.Observation and interview were used as the methods of this study. The techniques used in this study were content analysis and data analysis using a procedure of:  an analysis done when the process of data collecting was done (Miles and Hubermen, 1984: 21-25) with some steps: (1) data reduction, (2) data reporting, and (3) verification. Those methods were applied by the writer to discuss the phenomenon of minimalist-style housing complex in Surakarta, which focuses on the things that give a background of the presence of it. It consists an interaction between traditional and modern ambivalence as well as between the maintained aspects and conditioned aspects. The two aspects will be mediated with a given concept that is agreed by the visual culture consumers, so that an unwritten agreement that brings the identity of Solo city itself can be obtained in the future in line with the demand of the era. Keywords : phenomenon, minimalist, epidemic.

Abstract

To send the message of communication by entrusting it on an object, in this case advertisement or an event in which many people show interest, should use accurate words. Using words inaccurately,  the message can not be understood well. A language as a means of communication and communication itself is self-expression. Not only can each language be used to analyze structurally but also using semiotic approach, especially to advertisements. Besides an activity of communication, advertising is an activity of marketing. Basically an advertisement is the product of mass culture and of industrial society culture indicated by mass production and consumptions. It means that the mass are only viewed as consumers. Communication activity creates personal interactions using clear signs. Communication is also the division of behavioral elements or life style with a set of rules and the use of signs. From communication point of view, the manipulation of elements of a message depends on who the target is and through what media the advertisement should be expressed.The presence of advertising as  public service is meant to counter commercial advertisements because  they are often accused of increasing consumerism. Apart from that, advertising as a public service advertisement can be viewed using semiotic approach. Key words: language, advertisement, semiotics

Abstract

Traditional ornament is a regional cultural resources that need to be preserved so that theJavanese cultural values that have been made by previous generations can be passed downto the next generation. One way is to implement ornaments into existing buildings.This studyaims to determine any traditional ornaments used and how the meaning contained therein,and how it relates to the attractiveness of the tourism industry.This study is a qualitative research approach formalist / structuralist with aestheticand symbolic study, the approach to a study conducted at the decoration found on theinterior singep Pedan Ballroom Sahid Jaya Hotel in Surakarta. This study used a qualitativedescriptive method with aesthetic approach as the basis for analyzing. Comparative methodwas also performed to compare with other similar objects. Abstract

The study, entitled “The Optimizing of Surakarta Traditional Batik, The Implementationin Tradition-Based Accessories as strengthening efforts Surakarta Local Culture in the Global Era” to analyze and embodies Surakarta traditional batik as one of the mainstays of traditional souvenirs can be adaptable to support regional tourism and strengthening the local culture in the globalization era. A problem in the study is the lack of optimal utilization Surakarta batik as the souvenirs objects of tourist destination. The Weak sensitivity of craftsmen to the cultural wealth of the archipelago in Surakarta, in particular batik, is seen as a serious problem in an effort to optimize the Surakarta traditional batik. Identification analysis of Surakarta batik used as the indicator of first year performance to find solutions maps of design offer. Experiments conducted in ISI Surakarta by involving the team with the craftsmen. The method used in the first year using the method of content analysis, observation, interviews, experimental design with hermeneutic approach supported by a design, proposed by social, cultural, and psychological approach. The location is done in Surakarta. Data sources include the results of the work, which is a typical batik in Surakarta, informants, cultural figure, craftsmen, the general public, and literature related to the problem. Data collection technique is the study of literature, observations, and interviews. The validity of the data by using triangulation data and the analysis is the interactive analysis model to see the meaning behind the work of design objects. In the analysis phase of design formulation will using SWOT analysis. The focus of the second year of activities such as experimentation, education and training of craftsmen, try out, exhibition and sale of works of accessories, evaluation, refinement and accessories design concept, formulation of recommendations.

To track back the History of Photography is like unraveling a messy ball ofyarn. Photography is considered a new form of art. lts origin started on 17thcentury as discovered by a Fine Artist and then followed along the way byscientists, philosophers and otherartists from different branches of arts. Theearly stage of photography focused more on the technique of developing,from the invention of plates and the negative-positive process. Abstract

A chair is a culture product as well as a social product. A chair is a means or a tool for sitting for human being. A chair has better luck than other kinds of furniture have. A chair has the most prestigious symbolic meaning which other furniture or designed artifact does not have. The word ‘Kedudukan’ (occupation) which comes from the root ‘duduk’ (to sit) means power so that it is no wonder that a chair becomes the symbol of power. A chair as a tool for sitting has developed to be a cross-cultural and country mass product since Industrial Revolution in England. A modern chair designed to be comfortable from an ergonomic standpoint, to be functional from the standpoint of shape, and to be economical from the standpoint of production has rapidly developed and many people are interested in it.Key words: chair, symbol of power, modern, shape

Abstract

Urban landscape is a term refers to something related to urban exploration. Urban itself means an area that has a function as a living area, the distribution centre that has its own governance, and an economic activity that is based not only on agriculture. It might be said that urban landscape photography showed an image from that area with the situation at the urban or suburban living area. Abstract

Tulisan berjudul “Hadirnya Kekerasan Simbolik pada Perkembangan Interior diSurakarta” berusaha menganalisis fenomena merebaknya penggunaan elemen interiortradidional Jawa pada beberapa bangunan baik untuk rumah tinggal maupun bangunanumum di Surakarta dan sekitarnya. Tulisan ini berusaha mengupas proses hadirnya bentukkekerasan simbolik pada interior yang dipengaruhi atas konsep kekuasaan diri setiap individuberdasar arkeologi pengetahuan yang dimiliki. Strategi yang digunakan dengan pendekatanpostmodern, analisis wacana Foucault tentang kekuasaan dan kekerasan simbolik PierreBourdieu. Metode yang digunakan: fenomena yang diangkat di Surakarta dan sekitarnya,dengan studi literatur dan observasi pada fenomena.Hasil pembahasan, kehadiran iklan secara nyata maupun tidak nyata sejatinya telahmenghegemoni manusia yang melihatnya, mendorong keinginan tampil dalam sign valuetentang interior sebagai hunian. Kekuasaan pada diri individu mendorong adanya pengetahuantentang trend atau fashion interior. Tempel menempel elemen interior tempo dulu dihadirkandengan segala cara untuk rumah ke kinian. Pengetahuan orang tentang nilai pada satu simbolproduk budaya di era global berbeda-beda. Bagi orang yang telah melepaskan diri dari maknasimbol, maka tidak pernah ada yang mempersoalkan, karena semua dianggap given, takenfor granted. Bagi orang yang tidak menyepakati tentang nilai budaya yang dihadirkan padasatu simbol tertentu maka akan terjadi sebuah proses penolakan ataupun ketidaksepakatanterhadap nilai tersebut dan itulah yang dinamakan kekerasan simbolik. Kekerasan simbolikpada gaya interior carut marut yang memadu padankan elemen interior tempo dulu padainterior ke kekinian, tanpa mempertimbangkan aspek fungsi maupun nilai yang melekat.Kata Kunci: Kekuasaan, kekerasan simbolik, carut marut

Abstract

Interior Design Development Based Ergonomics to Radyapustaka Museum (Comfort and Security) as the Cultural Center, Information and Tourism Destination Surakarta done through the stages of research. The goal is to analyze and realize the convenient  Interior of  Radyapustaka Museum or visitors and managers, it also meets the security requirements for the collection of objects that are in it. The result will be the basis and provide direction for the development of interior design mentioned above.The first phase aims to identify interior Radyapustaka Museum. Experimental design will be implemented on campus involving a team of ISI Surakarta with faculty and students of Interior Design and other related parties. To explore the data in the form of artifacts, literature, and the informant conducted through observation, study of literature, interviews, and documentation. Experimental design is done by design approach and strengthened by evocative approach, educational, psychological and socio-cultural. Triangulation of data is selected as a tool to maintain the validity of the data, while the model is interactive analysis. Analysis conducted for the formulation of interior design Radyapustaka Museum. The second stage conducting the trial design through design embodies (experimental product) and its application (implementation design), evaluation, refinement and design concept formulation of recommendations.Results of the study indicate the stages there are some drawbacks of the current interior design museum collections including the arrangement of objects is generally not considered the aspect of convenience for visitors for example related to the circulation and visibility levels. Space organizations associated with building less  for use as a museum. Vitrin that some of them do not have the function as it should. Most of the collection for groups not utilizing posters, illustrations, image or description (caption) well as visual communication medium to describe a collection of museum objects.
