Abstract

Education in the Islamic world, the real figure should appear Muhammad as the leading and most successful educators. But Muhammad did not appear today. Muhammad was especially touched by the mission in the practice of the educational process which is attributed to Islam except just touched in discourse without end. It happened because the essence of the mission of Muhammad is not understood. Missi Muhammad actually just about "morals". Today morals understood bias. Morals tend to be understood as a behavior (Af'al). Bias of understanding that was followed by a bias on the mode of delivery and source bias. Repair morals today leaning to "custodian" of learning. Though Muhammad said "I was raised to improve morals". It means that the process of moral improvement today one berthing. The Qur'an explains that "morals" as the subject and repairs must be returned to their home. Then steps should be taken before returning to his native morals, morality must recognize his form. By knowing his form, we will know the origin of morality. Then we would know it back to the source. Turned out Lord claimed that He alone can edify it. That is, any sophisticated educational process carried out by human beings will never be able to edify. Therefore, we must know how to restore moral behavior as subject to God. Based on this, this paper is written with “hikmah” approach.

Abstract

This writing discusses the local wisdom of the Malay community of Pontianak found in pantun (Malay traditional poetry). As an original literature of the Malay community, pantun not only serves as an artistic expression but it also contains glorious values. The writer thinks that pantun serves as a medium of transition of values from one generation to the next. There are various values found in the pantun of the Pontianak community such as belief, relationship between fellow humans, and relationship between humans and environment.

Abstract

In the context of Indonesian-ness, the emergence of neo Islamic modernism initiated by Nurchalish Madjid is a criticism as well as asolution to the two main streams of Islam: traditional and modern, which are always in an almost-endless conceptual discord. Neo Islamic modernism emerges to offer concepts that go beyond the two main streams. The emergence of neo Islamic modernism introduced by Nurchalish Madjid is a preliminary movement of modernization in terms of rationalization which serves to reform the old ways that are not in line with aqliyah. The reform Nurchalish Madjid brought in has touched many aspects such as religious matters, socio-politics and education. Nurchalish Madjid ideas on education are influenced by his way of thinking which is rational, realistic and relativistic. There fore, his view on education has paved the way to a new direction, by looking at the reality and the context of current condition. Thus, Nurchalish’s ideas on education have become a solution to the current educational problems such as dichotomy, weak aspect of methodology, unclear and imbalanced orientation of religious education, etc.

Abstract

This research on concept of Sufism by ‘Abdul Wahab asy-Sya’râni studies about the education components which covers: the aspects of purpose and teaching material, the aspects of teacher and students, the aspects of method and strategy in Sufism Education, as well as the relevance of Sufism education by asy-Sya’râni with the development of character building. The finding results of this research are: 1) The Sufism education by asy-Sya’râni is the one of which the main purpose is to reach ma'rifatullah. The levels of ma'rifatullah can be reached through syuhud, and reaching syuhud can be done by performing the study of universe, as already done by secular scientists. The difference is that the Syarâni’s Sufism education in performing the universe study needs spiritual condition; that is the pureness of soul which can be reached through the preaching materials such as żikr, tafakur, Qur’an recitation, istighfar and so on. Its implementation is that when the students learn the physics, biology and so on, they should do the prayer well and regularly. 2) Guru is the one guiding the students to direct to Allah by tracing His way. According to asy-Syarâni they are called mursyid. While the students are called sālik.Sālik is someone who spiriatually walks to be close to Allah to get His Blesssing. 3) The method in Sufism is called tarīqah. It is a path or way to reach man’ aim activities and efforts to increase the human personality by building and developing their potentiality.

Abstract

Most of natural science teachings and science textbooks used in the schools were lack of religious values that enable to enhance students’ faith of God, the creator of the universe. Integrating and providing the Islamic spirits or religious values to the teaching-learning processes of products of science (facts, concepts, and principles) should be undertaken. By this way, we hope, materialism or secularism point of views could be eliminated. It is not a science teacher task, but ours as moslems as well.

Abstract

This article describes Al-Ghazali’s thoughts on education regarding the concept of mankind. His preferred form of education was in line with his concept of mankind. Education, in Al-Ghazali’s opinion, can be viewed from the individual, societal, and psychological sides. From the individual side, education is seen as developing divine characters in humans in line with their promise to Allah and their guidance to science and revelation. Humans long for submission to Allah, and their main struggle in life is to develop divine characters in themselves according to their capacity.
