Abstract

This qualitative study aims to identify religious moderation in the Bakar Batu tradition for the Dani Muslim community in Jayawijaya, Papua Province. The indicator of religious moderation formulated by the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia becomes the analytical theory in this study. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. The nature of this research approach is descriptive-analytic. Meanwhile, data analysis techniques go through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The results show that there is a dimension of mainstreaming religious moderation in the practice of the Bakar Batu tradition by the Dani Muslim community in Jayawijaya. First. dimensions of the value of tolerance in realizing harmony between religious people. This is realized through the creation of two holes for dishes. One hole is for food for Muslims, and the other is for food for non-Muslims. Thus the Bakar Batu tradition can still run with the nuances of full harmony between religious people. Second, the dimension of accommodative value to local culture in harmonizing religious teachings and local traditions. This is realized by replacing pork which is the main dish in the Bakar Batu tradition with halal meat. Thus, the Bakat Batu tradition can still be preserved by the Dani Muslim community without having to deviate from the normative provisions of Islamic teachings. The theoretical implication of this research shows that the mainstreaming of religious moderation by the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia can be a paradigmatic basis as well as an approach in realizing harmonious relations between Islamic teachings and local cultural pluralism in Indonesia. The limitation of this research is that it has not examined the form of the government's concrete role or strategy regarding the mainstreaming of religious moderation values in the Bakar Batu tradition and other traditions in Jayawijaya

Abstract

Social media is one of the most influential things in human life. Its utilization is no longer for social interaction, more than that, it is used as a very effective shifting paradigm for the wider community. This article seeks to explore the irony of intolerance to the message of the Qur’an in Indonesian social media on one of the Da'wah Youtube channels. Using analytical descriptive method, this research is focused on da’wah YouTuber Firanda Andirja. The results of this study indicate that Firanda's da'wah youtube channel explores Islamic law in daily life and the interpretation of the verses of the Qur'an. In the interpretation of the Qur'anic verse, he does not use ta'wil, ta'thil and takyif so as to produce a rigid interpretation of other religious ideological group. The religious nuances that he adheres to make his interpretation cannot be purified from his ideology, so that it seems to defend a certain religious group is intolerant of other groups. Firanda's thought needs to be deconstructed, because the explanation of his interpretation contains rigid criticisms that are classified as being intolerant of the customs and culture of the Indonesian so that the explanation will actually cause new problems, especially since the interpretation was born in Indonesia which has multi-cultures and religions. So, the interpretation is not suitable when used as a moral-oriented interpretation reference.

Abstract

Classical Javanese literary works have many variations, one of which is the work entitled Wulangreh (teaching with dedication) written by King Pakubuwana IV of the Surakarta palace when Indonesia was still under Dutch colonial rule. This study aims to describe the beauty of universal Islamic cultural values in this book, which was published in the 18th century but is still being used today. The question answered is, are the universal cultural values in the book still relevant today? What values attract tourists to come and learn about them? The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a hermeneutic approach triangulated with the opinion of cultural experts. The data was obtained by interpreting the thoughts of King Pakubuwana IV written in the book and interviews with Kanjeng Yusdianto, a traditional leader of the Surakarta palace and the head of the Radya Pustaka museum, Didik Suharjono. The results of the analysis show that the values in the book can be a reference for the world because of their universal nature, including the values of equality, multiculturalism, and civilization. The beauty of the language and the message conveyed by the King is very touching, especially if tourists want to come to Surakarta to see directly Wulangreh, the tomb of King Pakubuwana IV, the Radya Pustaka museum, and the Surakarta Palace. The religious and cultural values of Islam in the book can be used as provisions for readers in facing life today. Wulangreh, Pakubuwana IV Tomb, Surakarta Palace, and Radya Pustaka Museum are icons of religious and cultural tourism destinations in the recommended Era 5.0.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the meaning of cultural acculturation in the Belamin tradition and the Islamic paradigm of cultural acculturation among the nobles of the Matan Tanjungpura Kingdom. The research method used is a literature review with an interpretative symbolic approach. Belamin tradition is a construct of humanity that has been formed from the time of the ancestors in the descendants of the Matan Tanjungpura Kingdom which in interpretive symbolic language is a cognitive system (pattern Of), and then regeneratively occurs cultural agreement and the local community based on the times with the entry of Islam in the Matan Tanjungpura Kingdom until became a legitimate tradition and was referred to a value system (Pattern For). The legitimized belamin tradition is an acculturation of Hindu and Islamic culture that should not be abandoned by noble families because it is attached to a myth which is part of the cognitive system in interpretative symbolic language, which then results in a compromise encounter to form a culture called a system of meaning in interpretive symbolic language. Islam argues that all stages and processions of cultural acculturation in the belamin tradition may be preserved and maintained as long as the tradition has benefits and does not cause harm (negative effects), not related to technical worship, and as long as there are no qath'iy texts that prohibit it.
